Brian, I will cherish the moments we shared at the academy. We all know it was one of the most stressful and difficult times of our lives, and yet you always found a way to remain positive. The leadership skills you attained in the military carried over into the ISP. I was lucky to see you and your wife this past year at the State Fair and you were both so happy, both in life and you as an Illinois State Trooper. We all knew the risks of this job when we took the Oath, its just makes it more unbearable that something like this happened so early in our careers. You made the ultimate sacrifice Brian and you will never be forgotten. May GOD bless you, your family and all the men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day. 10-42.

From the men and women of the University of Missouri Police Department, our deepest sympathies go out to the McMillen family. I served with Brian in Operation Southern Watch and will never forget him. 10-42 Brother, Rest in Peace.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Abraham Lincoln

Brian was a man of wisdom and maturaty beyond his years. He was an inspiration to me and I had 4 stripes and more than 20 years on him. He was anoutstanding Trooper, Guardman, Husband and person. I am a good friend of his wife. After some hard times for her she had truly found her solemate and he made her very happy and she, him. This is a true tradjety for not only the family and all of us that knew him, but also for the Illinois State Police and the 183rd Fighter Wing and US Air Force. Watch over us Brian! I feel better knowing you are watching over us!

Brian,

As I click on this website, I still find it hard to believe you are gone. I feel very honored to have worked with you for six months as a cadet counselor for your cadet class, CC-113. You were always a light shining bright for others to see, even on the toughest days of training. As class president, you always had a "can do" type attitude, no matter what the task. You truly defined excellent every day you put on the duty belt. You may be 10-42 here on earth, but forever 10-41 with the Lord in Heaven. Brian, you will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Thank you for your outstanding service brother.

To the McMillen Family,

You have my sympathy on the loss of Brian. My hat is off to you for raising such a fine young man with the best values and morals anyone could desire. We were all so blessed to have known Brian. Thank you for being such a loving and caring family and a positive influence for Brian, it truly showed in all he did. Angela, thank you for being a supportive and loving wife to Brian. I know he loved you dearly. God bless you all in the days ahead.

Brian,

It is hard to think that just a week and a half ago we were both celebrating the marriage of mutual friends and today we celebrated your time spent on Earth. I believe God has a plan and there is a reason for everything. Even though God's plan is a little fuzzy to me now, I know we will someday meet again and we will continue the celebration. Our midnight shift was a family in a sense. You were our little brother and you fit in perfect. You caught on quick, you were a hard worker, you took our advice (most the time!)and for that I respect you. So lay down your gun, hang up your boots, you are with God, and I know you will watch over us. You will be missed but not forgotten. Rest in Peace Brother.

My wife knew you from classes at UIS. My niece knew you from the academy. Both spoke of how bright and kind you were. I never had the pleasure. I am humbled by the greatness of the accomplishments you earned in such a short life. Too short.
