To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Nunez, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

Margina Nunez
Our Memories Incomplete

Who would complete our memories of her?
How do we describe half a picture?
Why are some puzzles so incomplete?
What does death do to ease the pain?
When would a broken heart be restored?
Where is comfort to replace mourning?

She was so sweet, pleasant and polite
O, Lord Almighty, accept her soul
THE LAST CALL is made but no response
Margina Nunez, we’ll miss you deeply
Though in heaven we’ll see you again

We can hear weeping and echoes of pain
Much from loved ones with foggy minds
Who’d reach down and touch their tears
Who’d reach down and feel their pain
Lives now stricken with aching sorrows
And memories of her are made incomplete

I had limited contact with Deputy Nunez but each time I found her to be competent and compassionate. Her sense of humor and heartfelt attitude was a blessing to everyone. There was real shock but I feel she must have been needed for a higher purpose. I will miss her.

In honor of Deputy Nunez

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last

It's amazing how you're gone, but the person who inflicted this sorrow into our Law Enforcement family is out roaming the streets in Lee County less than 48 hours after he took you from us. The only peace of mind I have is knowing that God has given you your wings to watch over our L.C.S.O. family from afar. May God bless your family and friends for you will be sadly missed. To the family just remember yesterday was the past, today is a blessing and tomorrow is not promised to us. Rest in peace Deputy Nunez, we love you!!

Margena it is so hard to believe that you are not here, I will always remember how we would laugh at our squeeky voices. How we were on the "did I eat today" diet. How we would compare our teenagers to make sure they were normal. I get choked up just thinking about how I will not see you, but when I get to heaven I will see you again. We will continue to pray for your family because we know the road without you is long and rough. We will remember and love you forever. Your friend and co-worker. Doris Rivera

No words can express the sadness I and my family feel. I trained Margena when she chose to take another step and seek a position in patrol. Always ready to learn, Margena was a good student. Margena was never deterred in her mission to succeed. I will always remember that she had a smile on her face and a kind word to say. It has been said that bravery is doing an extraordinary act at the appropriate time. Courage however is doing the right thing all the time, Margena was courageous. She was a beautiful lady and one hell of a cop. Rest in Peace Margena, we will take it from here.

In the Line Of Duty

We go to work each day with the knowledge that we might one day have to give the ultimate sacrifice for our community. I love each and every member of my team. I was filled with great saddness and pain when I learned that a member of our team was tragically killed while protecting the community that she loved.

Deputy First Class M. Nunez gave the ultimate sacrifice today when she was struck down early this morning by a drunk driver. She worked hard to get to "The Road". She started her career working for Medical in the Jail. She then got hired on in 1999 as a Corrections Clerk.

Like most of us clerks, she had a dream of becoming an officer and she made that dream come true. She became a Corrections Officer and worked/paid her way to become a Dual Certified Officer so that she could ask of an assignment on the Road.

It is heart breaking to me that someone who worked so hard to become what she wanted could have that taken from her in an instant.

I will always remember her and I will pray for peace for her and her family. May the Lord watch over her children and may she take her place in his Kingdom.

MAY WE NEVER FORGET HER ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS TO HAVE TO POST OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF MARGENA. MARGENA HAS PROUDLY MOVED THROUGH THE RANKS OF A CLERICAL CIVILIAN, TO THE RANK OF A CERTIFIED OFFICER. THERE IS A GREAT RESPECT FOR HER FROM EVERY FACET OF THE BROTHER/SISTERHOOD OF THE FAMILY OF LCSO.I WANTED HER FAMILY TO KNOW THAT SHE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND WE ARE PROUD TO SHARE THE SAME BADGE. WE KNOW THE RISKS OF THE JOB, BUT IT STILL CUTS DEEP. WITH GREAT RESPECT, T. GIANNAKOPOULOS
