"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Deputy Sheriff Margena Silvia Nunez,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the "ODMP Light". That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute.

People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer.

Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP serves as a place where that continuum of "LIGHT" can be seen through and within, the heart and soul of each and every person who honors our fallen heroes with a relection and/or tribute. As we say in Hawaii, "We are `Ohana. We are family."

May God comfort the family and loved ones who have lost their beloved Margena. May God also comfort those who have lost a fellow officer and friend that can never be replaced in this lifetime.

I wish you peace and love beyond all understanding.
May you rest in peace Deputy Sheriff Margena Silvia Nunez. May God Bless You for you are Home now. You will always be in my prayers, today, tomorrow, and forevermore.
Me Ke Aloha Pumehana. Amen.

**I pray all find comfort in this Hawaiian prayer I leave you.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

Ka Maluhia o ka "I".

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the person they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Nunez, especially to her husband. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Margena, she sounds like she was a great woman with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew her in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Margena's life and the WOMAN that she was. Remember that Margena's life was about so much more than the way she died. Margena will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy Nunez, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost four years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

It is so hard yet so comforting to pull up this page and type my memories of you. There are days that I sit and think of that oh so soft laugh and voice that you shared with so many of us. I wish you were here to make that well deserved trip to Miami so that we could look at more furniture, pictures, talk about the kids and life in general. Margena, I pray daily that Faith, Anthony and your entire family will continue to love life and be happy each day in this life. I love the Lord because he hears and answers my prayers. I will continue to pray as long as I breathe. I thank God for blessing you and blessing me by letting you be a part of my life. Until we meet again.....

I first met Margena just over five years ago and can vividly remember the first thing she did was smile. She just had a way of making people smile just by being around her. I was devistated to hear of the loss of such a great woman and dedicated Deputy. Margena you will be greatly missed and will NEVER be forgotten. I will continue to pray for you and your family as the days ahead are still going to be hard, but I hope the thoughts of you as God's top angel will be of some comfort. The life in Law Enforcement is never easy, however, you handled it was such grace and dignity. Miss ya much!

With so much love and memories,

Margena--
It has been just over three weeks since you left us. It has taken that long for me to gain the composure to write this. I know you would be so proud of your children right now. They are truly a reflection of you! We miss you at the CORE! Your smile, your laughter, your heart. I call you friend! I call you sister! I pray I will always carry a part of you as I walk the halls at the CORE!

I only met you once but I was so impressed with your courtesy and professionalism especially since you had been on the road alone for a very short time. We need so many people with your dedication and you are a severe loss, not only to your family, but to the entire community. I am afraid each time my daughter and her husband put on their uniforms that I and their children will have to go through what your parents and children are at this time. May God bless them and, in time, ease their loss. We all will miss you.

As I here here today finally mustering up enough strength to relfect with my dear FRIEND, I can hear you with that soft voice say, "Sarg, you have the strength that we all look for". Margena, you were more than a co-worker, you definitely acheived that level that we hold so dear to be called "MY FRIEND". I wilL always remember those days that we called each other just to talk about what step we were in during the process of our divorces ( we laughed and cried about it too). I would like to say that though I continue to cry many days for you, I know that you loved the Lord and you have paid the ultimate price to redeem your reward. Anthony and Faith will always be reminded of the love of the Lord, paitence of people and preserverence that their mother so graciously possessed. Until we meet again my dear SISTER. I love you and I love you.

I remember the days we worked together as CNA 's at Shady Rest. We used to travel together to work, Margena would do most of the driving at the time before I started driving, Eventually she left and went off to join the Corrections department. Margena always had a smile on her face, a very pleasant person she was. It took me a while to grasp this great loss, but God had a greater plan for her in mind. We all don't know when we will be called home but we can trust in the Lord with all of our heart and lean not unto our own understanding and he will direct our path . May Margena's soul rest in peace.

We all loved you and your family, and we will continue to pray for your family that God will continue to keep them. While it is no consolation for your loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Deputy Nunez.

While I did not have the privilege to have known her personally, I am certain that she has found a place in heaven through her selfless service to those she swore to protect.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line
