James C. Beyea

Police Officer James Beyea was shot and killed by a suspect during a foot pursuit. The suspect was able to gain control of Officer Beyea's service weapon and fatally shot him.

The suspect was shot and killed a short time later canine officers who had tracked him to the attic of an abandoned house.

Officer Beyea was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served with the Los Angeles Police Department for nine months. He is survived by his parents and sister.

Hey Jimmy, that's it my brother I'm done as of 01/31/2018. Back on April 16, 2015, the city dedicated a memorial walk for you in the valley. Got to see your mom. She looked great. A few classmates attended. John Morena and I rode our city motors there. I think about you and Van daily and miss you guys. Thanks for watching my back and getting me through my career with LAPD. GOD bless and Rest in Peace.
