Mike was a highly respected man and he will be greatly missed. I went to the Law Enforcement Academy with Mike and had the privledge of getting to know him. He was good at everything he did and carried himself well. I feel for his family. This is such a tragedy and our class has lost two MHP Troopers in the last two years. The Haynes family will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless,

Lynlee

For Trooper Mike Haynes:

I cringe every time I read an incident such as this. Another trooper taken from our midst by the actions of an irresponsible drunken individual who chose to bring pain, suffering and death to himself and others. Mike Haynes deserved better than this for he was a young trooper who, like many, had plenty of training, desire to help others, and promised to protect and to serve. Now, tragically, he will not get to fulfill what he had nobley begun.

Perhaps it is time for all who wear a badge to turn from our sadness and take it upon ourselves to reduce the number of troopers who might die under the circumstances Mike did. And, certainly others, too.
It is time to act like soldiers-of-law and relentlessly enforce the law and make no exceptions for those who will kill again. It is in our hands. How we respond depends upon each of us when we begin our patrol. Remember Mike. Remember how he died. Remember the actions of the person that killed him.

To Trooper Mike Haynes I render a final salute.

Pennsylvania State Police
