Thank you for your service, sir. My thoughts are with you, your family, and the Montana Highway Patrol.

Tawny:
I can only imagine the pain you are going through. I hope you will take comfort in knowing that Mike love for you will live on forever. You and your children will be in my prayers and I promise that Mike’s memory and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
To Taryn and Elias:
I hope some day you will understand that your father died protecting the freedoms most people take for granted. As you grow up, never question your father's love for you. He died doing his very best to make the world you will grow up in a better, safer place.
To my brothers and sisters of the Montana Highway Patrol:
My heart goes out to all of you. Go forward with the knowledge that you are filling in the gap of the Thin Blue Line left by Mike’s death. I know you will carry on the mission because, like Mike, you know how important your role is in keeping our communities safe.

To all the family and friends of Trooper Haynes from our family...we truly wish to express our love and sadness for your tragic loss. We especially want the wife and two small children of Trooper Haynes to know we will be praying for you...especially that ministering angels will surround you and buoy you up through this long and painful path. We truly do know and understand the pain...we too lost our son (Ofc. Shane Figueroa Phx.PD) to a drunk driver on 10-25-08. He too served for only 2 1/2 years and leaves behind a wife and 3 month old daughter. Know that Mike is a true hero and will never be forgotten. I am convinced and testify that the day will come when you will be reunited and every tear of sadness and grief will be replaced with tears of joy and happiness a hundred fold. Even though we have never met, know that because we share this common adversity we are family. From our law enforcement family to yours...may you find some peace in knowing this is not the end.

Having lost my son in the line of duty, I have true empathy for the pain of the Haynes family. As I read about this untimely death, the knot in my stomach tightened. I'm especially mindful of Trooper Haynes' parents, realizing that life is playing with the normal order of things. May the Lord help and comfort you through this time of sorrow.

The following is a Fallen Officer's Prayer that was found while a Pueblo Police Officer visited the N.Y.P.D. Museum & Ground Zero in 2005 Officer's Prayer

Fallen Officer’s Prayer

I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
My Name For All Eternity.
Recorded Here At This Hallowed Place.
Alas, My Name, No More My Face.
'In The Line of Duty' I Hear Them Say.
My Family Now The Price To Pay.
My Folded Flag Stained With Their
Tears.
We Only Had Those Few Short Years.
The Badge No Longer On My Chest.
I Sleep Now In Eternal Rest.
My Sword I Pass To Those Behind And
Pray They Keep This Thought In Mind.
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
And With A Heavy Heart And Bended
Knee, I Ask For All Here From The
Past...
Dear God, Let My Name Be The Last.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
