Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Michael Warren Haynes

My prayers and condolences go out to Trooer Haynes' family, friends and the Montana Highway Patrol family. What a tragic loss. This is the reason we must all keep the fight up against people who could care less about other people's lives. Drunk driving must be eliminated from our highways!!!

Mike, another brother has given his life for us all. You saved someone else from that crash; you did your job valiantly. Protect and Serve. You like two before have embodied everything that is right about what we do everyday. Your MHP brothers will miss you and forever remember your sacrifice. Thank God for you and your family-We will watch over them for you until they can be with you again. God Speed Brother!

Once again we sorrowfully mourn the passing of a true american hero, and once again we mourn the passing of a fellow man at the hands of a drunk driver. My condolences to the family and friends of this fine Trooper. Rest easy brother and let all of us others who get one more oppurtunity to wake up and do it all over again take it from here.

I know the feeling. In December of 1969 while Station Commander at Mantua Station and in charge of the Interstate 295 patrol, I had the exact thing happen to one of my Troopers. A drunk driver entered the Highway in the wrong direction and hit my young married trooper, who had two small children head on. Both were killed. It still lives in my mind. My sympathy to his family and all members of your Department.
