To the family of Officer Cotton: I hope that you can find solace in the fact that your Nicola had the courage to confront that which others chose not to. I did not know her, however reading her story shows that she had courage beyond her years and integrity beyond reproach. Though I didn't know or work with her, she is my sister and I am proud to be associated with people of her caliber.

Rest well,Blue Angel...know that your works will NOT be in vain.We know that you will continue to man your post over and with us,as we continue to do so here in honor of you.You stand with us in all that we do,and hopefully by your example in life and duty we are a reflection of your good works and efforts.Thank you for standing the thin blue line, and thanks to your family for standing with and beside you.You show by your example in life that we will continuing to stand and rebuild with our heads high.
The Aborigine have a saying, that(and hopefully I paraphrase it correctly),"...we will meet again, and next time it will be without these cumbersome human shells...".Thank you for choosing to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

My prayers are with your family and co-workers. It is so hard to understand why terrible things happen to good people. I will pray that God places his arms of love around those who will miss you most and give them the strength to make it through.

Go boldly.

It is easy to see how well loved and respected you were. As a recruit close to graduation, I was learning to handcuff on the day you paid the highest price, and your legend touched me in an unexplainable way. As a fellow female officer, I will take your strength and spirit into the battle, and will fight with it to the end. Thank you for your inspiration. Rest easy.

I have always hated the irony of the fact that law enforcement officers that are MURDERED in the line of duty, are killed by the very violence and evil that they detest to their core. It's such violence and evil, that most of society won't take up the challenge to fight.

Yet, in the face of such violence and evil, not only do LEO's face the challenge, they fight it valiantly and sometimes to the bitter end.

Officer Cotton, your sacrifice is two-fold, one for the citizens of New Orleans, and two for all the female victims that he violated. And because of your sacrifice, I'm sure that he will at the very least locked up forever, and not able to rape or murder another woman again.

I salute you, Officer Cotton Nemo me impune laccessit.

GOD bless you and yours. I was in almost the same situation as you were. No one came to my rescue until almost the last minute. My perp did not get my weapon, but I did fight him awhile, until one lone civilian came to my aid. I could not get to my radio, and I screamed for someone to call 911. No one did.

I am so sorry no one came to your aid, I hope they can sleep at night, no! I hope they can't!

GOD bless you and you ARE safe!
