Officer Cotton it is because of you and the many other women in Law Enforcement that have inspired me to continue on with my dream of one day soon becoming a Law Enforcement Officer. I am a Cadet Explorer which is my first step to follow in the footsteps of all of the women serving and the ones who like you have passed on doing your job. Rest in peace sister we have it from here.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Nicola's family and the NOPD family. I met Nicola while I was still on the force and she always had a smile on her face. May she RIP and smile down on us with that same smile, but from a better place.

As most of the city mourns the loss of one of New Orleans finest...some are compelled to speak of how the "system" failed Nicola's killer. It was, in fact, the entire "system" that failed Nicola. We can only hope for the current and future generations of police officers that the MURDER of Officer Cotton will not be down played and that lessons are learned. Everyone speaks highly of the cop that she was and the job that she did.
Nicola you will be missed...rest easy we'll take it from here.

It is difficult to reconcile the passing of such a young officer at a time when so many officers are helping the city, prayers of condolence and support to family and friends.

It brings me to tears to see the evil in this world, why our heros have to die like this. We lost our chris this past december and many lives have been shattered. Why dopeople fail to see these officers are brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, husbands, wifes, children, cousins and best friends. When you kill the officer, you kill parts of many peoples lives! Rest in peace Officer cotton, you will not be forgotten

I remember how we kept running into each other at Orleans Parish lock-up, making those arrest. It makes me smile when I think about the time somebody (I'm not going to say who) locked the keys in the unit and we spent about 20 minutes trying to unlock the door. I was so hurt to hear of your passing. You will be carried on in the hearts of those who knew you and the people you served. Rest in Peace, my friend. Nicola, you will be missed.
