Reflections for Police Officer Anthony Jon Holly

I knew Tony from the time he was a freshman in high school. He and his brother Jim have been two of my most trusted friends since then. I'll never forget when he told me he was going to be a cop; I just couldn't picture it. All I could see was that goofy kid trying to make everyone laugh with a towel tied about his neck as a cape. But when I had the chance to see him work, I was so proud.

Tony brought so much light to my life and the lives of our little group of friends and we all miss him more than we can say. He was first our friend, and is now our hero. Thanks to all of the Glendale officers who worked so hard to take care of his family and all of us. We'll always think of Tony when we see you on the streets, and we'll always be here for you.

Tony, known by many names ("Super T," "Cabana Boy," "Swimmer," etc.)--we love you and we miss you. We'll see you again.

Tony, I'm sitting here trying to come up with something useful to say and I just can't think of anything that describes how I am feeling right now. I'm trying to take comfort in knowing that you are in a better place but that certainly doesn't take away the fact that you are no longer with us. I not only lost a fellow officer and brother but a friend, and I've spoken with a lot of our co-workers and I know they feel the same way. I pray for your family every day Tony and I truly hope that if they ever need anything that they have the courage to just pick up the phone and call. You will always be loved here at GPD and you will NEVER be forgotten. GOD BLESS...Officer Matt Schneider

It is always hard to lose a brother, but some how it makes it even harder when he is taken from us so young. Officer Holly, I thank you for your years of service, both as a police officer and in the U.S. Air Force. I "HONOR" your commitment to the security of this great nation. I hope that your family can take some comfort in knowing that you were doing what you loved and believed in. We will never forget that you were out there for us, to protect our families. God holds a special place in heaven for those that place themselves between the good and evil in this world. Look down on your family and wrap your wings of "Blue" around them and help them through this terrible and dark time.

I Did Not Know Him In Life, But I Still Call Him Brother, For He Was My Brother "In Blue".

+ Rest Now My Brother For We Will Stand The Watch Now +

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last
(Author unknown)

+God bless all the men and women in blue.+

Dear Tony:
And yet another brother is taken away from us by an act of cowardice. Rest assure brother, justice WILL be done.
The valor you displayed, the honor you maintained, the tenacity you showed, leaves a legacy that can only be viewed at in awe.
If the public to which we are sworn to protect only knew how, with each death of a brother officer, a piece of each of us dies with them, perhaps the public would make enough of an outcry to REALLY prosecute these murdering bastards.
I am certain that as you sit with our Father in Heaven, here remains a family shattered forever, left to deal with the loneliness and sorrow. To that end, Tony, may God bless you, your family, and all our police officers who risk EVERYTHING, everyday, for everyone of us, in order that we may live in security, peace, and happiness. Thank you for dedication and sacrifice. The cry of the wolf at the door has been answered, and you are immortalized forever. Rest in peace. Amen

--"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Police Officer Anthony John Holly,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Police Officer Anthony John Holly, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

A'ole ka Maluhia o ke ao aka, ka'u Maluhia wale no,
Ka Maluhia o ka "I".

No words can express the ache my heart feels for your family... and no words can express the gratitude in my heart for your sacrifice. I was there today, when they laid you to rest, and it was beautiful. Tony, they honored you like a real hero, just like you earned. Citizens lined the streets for miles all because they wanted to honor you.

Bless you. Bless you. Bless you.

My heart is just aching that another officer was shot and killed. My condolences go out to the family and friends and fellow officers. I had to go to the funeral of my father, who was a policeman in Colorado. I will never forget the pain and at the same time the pride when I saw all those officers showing respect and love for one of their own. Whenever I see a policeman taking a break and having lunch I try to thank them for doing their job and protecting everyone from the bad guys. My tears flow today.
With Love and respect to the family.
