To Serve & Protect

Some of us didn't know you well,
Yet we all shared an instant bond.
Our lives' paths crossed with our collective purpose,
To serve & protect.

We take comfort in knowing,
That you are embraced and welcomed,
By our guardian brothers & sisters who preceded you,
To serve & protect.

You are,
Ever the servant,
Ever the protector,
Ever the friend,

And we'll be seeing you

"I pray and trust the good Lord will help get YOU through"

Your son and brother was a hero - we know this to be true,
Always protecting Glendale's citizens while patrolling in blue...
To "Serve and Protect" Glendale - that's what he pledged to do,
I pray and trust the good Lord will help get YOU through...

He strived to make a difference, touching the lives of all he knew,
Assisting citizens, deterring crimes and seeing each day through,
To "Serve and Protect" Glendale - it's what he lived to do,
I pray and trust the good Lord will help us all get through...

On that final morning, while doing what he had to do,
He put his life on the line once more, just as he was trained to...
As he approached the scene that day, I'll always wonder if he knew,
I pray and trust the good Lord will help get HIM through...

He truly made a difference, touching the lives of all he knew,
Doing his work with that contagious smile and his upbeat attitude...
To "Serve and Protect" Glendale - it's the oath he took to do,
I pray and trust the good Lord will help get US through...

They say we all have to go, "When it's our time, it's our time", this is true,
But today our hearts are heavy, Tony, this is senseless - losing you,
I've tried but don't understand this - why now, and certainly why you,
I pray and trust the good Lord will help ME get through,
I pray and trust the good Lord will help US ALL get through.

Officer Anthony Jon Holly, you are gone but will never be forgotten. God Bless you for all your hard work and dedication to protecting not only this great city, but this great country, as well. My heart is heavy and the lump in my throat is too much to bear. You have made the final and ultimate sacrifice. I was very much looking forward to working with you over the air waves once I joined Glendale's Communications Division. Especially when you told me that you liked to bring treats in for the dispatchers and operators! But your work here is now done... your brave brothers and sisters will pick up where you left off. May you rest in eternal peace. Good night, brave soldier. I will miss you terribly until we meet again one day. May God Bless you and hold you close, now and always.

P.S. Thanks for all the advice

To the friends and family of officer Holly, I want to offer my prayers for strength during this hard time. I know through experience what it is to lose such a great man in blue as I lost a great friend in 2005 in simlar circumstances. Daniel was taken from us in August of 2005 through multiple gunshots just trying to do what he loved. He was a great officer and friend and from what i've read, officer Holly was an officer that truly deserves our respect for the job well done. to the family, rest be assured that the men and women in Blue will carry on the task of keeping the streets safe down here and know that if you need anything, they will always be there for you, all you need to do is ask. I, myself work the EMS side of things, but for the last 12 years have had the pleasure of working with many great officers and truly understand the brotherhood of blue runs deep and they always watch out for each other and their families, so know they will be there for you during this hard time and for years to come.

God speed our brother and tell Daniel hello for us, we will miss you guys but know we will see you again someday.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents & our comfort is the assurance that He will judge the guilty.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
As we recall in comfort
You await us there.

Tony, I never realized how important our last conversation was to be. While visiting another Officer that almost met a similar fate, I had the honor of being able to talk to you. You were very excited to be getting back on the street and on with your career. But more important to you, was how my new career was going and how things were going in my life.... In knowing you during your time at Glendale, this truly was your concern... How others were doing.. More than yourself...

Well in keeping with this, I want you to know, that though we all came together to mourn your loss, we all came together.... You were able to reunite alot of us that lost contact over the years and share tears, stories, and even a few laughs...."Cabana Boy".... I know that is the way you would want things.... You brought us all together and helped many of us to remember what is most important..... the love for eachother and to cherish each and every moment as a gift.... In your passing, you gave us all that gift.... You, your family, and your law enforcement brother and sisters will always be remembered and cherished...... God Speed Brother........

Greetings and Blessings in the Name of Jesus to the family and close friends of Glendale PD Officer Anthony "Tony" Holly.

I am so sad to hear of your personal loss and the loss of another young officer to our metro area. I did not know your "Tony", but I do know the same spirit of love and compassion he apparently had. I watched his funeral on TV and was so moved by the things said. I heard the song I Can Only Imagine and Praise the Lord, Tony no longer has to imagine! Yes, he is with the Lord! That gives such peace and I know the family has this peace with them in the Lord. Tony is at peace and one day you will see him again if you know our Lord. If you are reading this and do not, he's only a prayer requesting forgiveness and your acceptance away.

To the officers of Glendale, I am so sorry for your loss. From what was said about him, no doubt he will be sadly missed. Heaven just gained another of the wonderful people sent to this earth for a short time to watch over others. He watched over all our interests while serving in the military and over us personally when assigned to Glendale.

My prayers are with all of you.

My sincerest condolences,
P. Carter, Civilian, Phoenix PD

It seems like just yesturday I saw your smile, and heard your laugh. You would lighten up a room, and anybody's dark mood. You will be deeply missed, and I thank God for having put you on this earth. You always put others before you. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. As a fellow comrade, I appreciate your service. Love always, Val

To the family of Officer Anthony Holly,

My husband is the Glendale Police Sergeant in charge of supervising the D.A.R.E. & G.R.E.A.T. officers. Mark missed out on the opportunity to personally meet Anthony – the peril of a rapidly growing department, I guess. However, we attended his funeral – and cried and laughed with your family as we celebrated his life.

I want to thank your family for sharing the letter from the D.A.R.E. student. I agree with you that Anthony and all officers are the real heroes. It was comforting to hear that appreciation from a student. Also, to see all the children and citizens that lined the procession route.

To the family of Ofc. Holly, it has taken me a few days to try and come up with the words to say to you. All I could come up with is, we are here for you. I know Kerry has been in touch with you and I am so thankful she has. We know the pain you feel, the anger that someone could do something like this to somebody so wonderful. Please know that should you need anything, we are a phone call or email away. May the Lord hold you in His hands and give you strength through the difficult days ahead. Our thougths and prayers go with you each step of the way.

Ofc. Holly, you were a man with a heart of gold. May the Lord keep you in His home of light and love. Please say hi to our Dad up there, share a few laughs with him. He too, liked a good joke. Watch over your loved ones and give them your strength as they continue on. Rest brave Hero, you walk a new beat in the Home of our Lord.
