I HAVE BEEN READING ALL THE REFLECTIONS LEFT FOR OFFICER FRANKLIN BY HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS AT PATERSON P.D. EACH ONE SAYS HOW THEY WILL MISS HIM AT ROLL CALL.
I WOULD LIKE TO RELAY A STORY, THAT EACH TIME I READ WE WILL MISS YOU AT ROLL CALL, COMES TO MIND.
IN 1970, THERE WAS AN OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED IN SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA. THERE WAS A PARK IN THE CITY NAMED FOR HIM, BUT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO THIS HERO, IS HIS FAVORITE SEAT IN THE BRIEFING ROOM. HE SAT IN THIS SEAT, AND THIS SEAT ONLY, AT BRIEFING.
THAT CHAIR, TO THIS DAY, SITS IN HIS FAVORITE SPOT, WITH A PLAQUE ATTACHED. THE PLAQUE READS:
THIS CHAIR IS RESERVED IN THE MEMORY OF RICHARD EUGENE HUERTA, BADGE 47, KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY, AUGUST 6, 1970. BROTHER HUERTA WILL ALWAYS ANSWER ROLL CALL IN OUR HEARTS.
TO READ THE COMPLETE STORY OF ANOTHER SENSELESS DEATH, GO TO SAN JOSE POLICE DEPT. CLICK ON DEPARTMENT HISTORY AND CLICK ON FALLEN HEROES. THIS STORY WILL SEND A CHILL UP AND DOWN YOUR SPINE.
I LISTENED TO THE WHOLE THING ON THE SCANNER AT HOME. THE NEXT NIGHT, I TOLD A FRIEND OF MINE WHEN I SAW HIM, AREN'T YOU GLAD YOU DIDN'T MAKE THAT STOP AT 11th AND WASHINGTON LAST NIGHT.

OFFICER FRANKLIN, NEVER FORGOTTEN.

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and part of america died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand in court with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation wont fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street and he stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call
of himself gave his all
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED.

I was deeply saddened to hear that Ty was killed. I worked with his mom Belinda for several years and met Ty when he came on board and worked with us part time while he was a senior at Westwood High. He was friendly, caring and fun to work with. We called him TY-Bo at the office. My heart goes out to his family. GOD has called a good man HOME.
Rest in peace Ty.

This was my nephew, it was a proud moment for me to know that he had chosen to be a police officer, in mind I thought it to be a noble professsion. He had always done great things in school and was a wonderful kid. He was my very first nephew and I was indeed proud of the man that he had become. The day I got the phone call from my fahter I was in utter disbelief and that disbelief formed to anger, that someone that had spent his life giving to others and doing the right thing, his life had to be ended so abruptly. We have to change the way we raise our children, we have to invest the time in them and stop letting the streets do it for us. My nephew has a 16 month old son who will never enjoys the pleasures of spending time with his dad. He has also been robbed of ever being able to play catch, his father being able to go to school plays, or sports events. My heart is very heavy and it will take along time to pass. I was not a believer in the death penalty but as of right now I have had a change of heart, this murder was senseless and did not have to happen. I believe he should be taken to the gallos and executed for this horrific crime. He took something from my family that he had no right to take and it can never be replaced. I wonder how would he feel if it were his mohter, father, brother, or sister that this happened to. Would he have been so quick to have pull the trigger. This animal has torn down what all of the proud hard working African American citizens have done to transend. Tyron did not deserve this and I hope hope that God has mercy on your soul after you are executed.

Judgement Day For a Police Officer
Author Unknown

*~In memory of your fallen brother~*

The police officer stood and faced his maker,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, police officer how shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To your maker have you been true?"
The police officer, with squared shoulders, said "No, sir, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most sundays and at time my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed by a cry for help though at times I shook with fear, and sometimes, please forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place around the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fears.
But if you have a place for me here, well..it need not be too grand.
I never expected or had too much so if you don't..I'll understand."
There was silence all around the room where the saints respectfully stood.
As the police officer waited quietly, for the judgement bad or good.
"Step forward now, police officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell."

God Bless your family and friends and your watch over your class 2005-2!

To my cousin Ty - even from afar I kept up with the journey you made as a boy and later a man. You made us all proud. Of course, selfishly, I wish that the journey would continue, but God had other plans. You will inspire all of us to bigger and brighter things.

To my family - you know my unwavering support is yours....

Ty...I have had a hard time since you have been gone. I guess I'm selfish and want the hurt to end. I remember all the fun times and how you love the "action" our last foot pursuit you actually ran with a smile on your face... I am sorry for always getting on you for chewing on your nails and miss all the stories of your little man (TJ). Most of all I miss my young partner, even though I see you in that seat next to every officer when *hit is getting deep. I met your great family today and looked in to your eyes as TJ held on to me and gave me your same smile. I will always miss you Ty. ALL of us will be there to watch your son grow up and he will always know how you loved him so much. Until our role call in heaven where I will see your face and we can ride as partners together once again!!! We miss and love you brother.

To my brother, Officer Tyron Franklin.

This has been a very emotional & stressful time for your family and all of us in the department, ever since your life was taken away from us!

Day & night we searched for your killer and prayed that he would be caught. The day has come, Tuesday, January 16, 2007 the man who took you away from us was apprehended!
Even though he was apprehended, it does not change the fact that you will no longer be here with us!

My brother/friend Ty, We the Class of 2005-2 will always have you in our heart and mind forever! We will never forget all of those struggles, discipline, stressful days & nights, laughters and get togethers we had from the beginning of the academy until this tragady happened. We all know that you did not give up and fought til the end!

Please watch over us as, we continue to protect and serve the streets of Paterson!!!!

I know that you're in a better place now, where pain and suffering does not occur. We won't be able to see you or touch you anymore, but I know that one day we will meet again in heaven.

WE LOVE YOU, Ty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Prayers will always be with you, your beautiful son and family.

The Paterson Police Department would like to say "Thank You" to all the Departments, residents, businesses, and friends who called, sent letters, made contributions for the reward & to the family.
