Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Tyron Donta Franklin

Although I never had the pleasure or priviledge to meet you, my husband Tom told me a lot about you and I feel as if I had. Sending you thoughts and prayers of peace, and God's Grace. I know your mother Belinda and I send you my love and wrap my arms around you. To your whole family I send thoughts of God's strength to get you through each day. God Bless You Tyron. With Love and Light, Arlene Caterino

Sometimes you get the bad guy and sometimes he
gets you.
The shot that killed you also killed a part of us.
It killed a part of your family, both at work and at home.
It killed your dreams, your hopes, your future.
But it must not kill our determination to make this
world a better place or our will to make a difference.
America's streets must be running red with blood with
all the deaths of leos. Every time I come here to leave
a reflection, I feel like my words get emptier and emptier. I am truly sorry for your loss...a loss too great
for words. I am so happy your murderer has been
apprehended! Good work, guys!

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Officer Franklin. I know first hand the pain and anguish that ya'll are going through as my best friend, Beeville Texas Police Officer Greg Stewart was shot and killed in an attempted arm robbery in San Antonio in May,2006.
Everytime I visit the ODMP website I reminded why we do this job. Officer Franklin made the conscious decision to be one of the "good guys", a protector of the innocent and the weak from societies ills. Every law Enforcement Officer knows that the price of being the Protector can be incredibly high. I am quite confident that Tyron was well aware of the dangers, yet he still put the uniform and badge on, willing to risk his life for the benefit of others. The noblest of acts. To put ones self in danger to help someone that you don't even Know.
As I put my young children to bed at night they often ask me "what about the Monsters Daddy?" and I always tell them with a pang of guilt that "there are no monsters, its just your imaginations" But, the truth is there are monsters out there. There are sharks in the water, wolves lurking among us, people who would do harm to the innocent.
Take comfort in the fact that your son, husband, and father was one of the best, a "Good Guy" a protector. The pain will never completely fade but, as I can attest, it does get better over time. My deepest condolences and heart felt sympathy to all who will forever mourn the loss of Officer Tyron Franklin.

Dear Officer Franklin,

I know we have never met. Today I found out that someone very special to me was related to you, and I just wanted to say rest in peace to you and may you always walk with God. I hope you will watch over my special someone who is related to you, and meet up with one of the late relatives that you both share. I hope one day, when the Lord comes, we may all meet up together in Heaven with Jesus, and I may get the chance to meet you. I look foward to that day.

Rest In Peace,
