To the Barber family, thank you for sharing Jose with us for a short time, I didnt know him in person, but on the radio he was a very professional officer. Losing a Officer no matter where, touches us all. Losing a Officer from your own Department is hard,even after 25yrs. To all of you in blue thank for all you do, take care of one another. Officer Barber, because of the reckless act of an irresponsible dreg of society, you never had the chance to truly show your abilities to the city of Seattle. Your death is a huge loss, not only because of what has been taken, but what could have been. In five months, you had veteran cops (and some who think they are) judging you and evaluating you. It’s just so sad that you were never really given the chance to show what you could do.

God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brother.

Officer Barber,

You were in a different academy class than I was so I didn't get to know you all to well, but one thing I do remember is how you were always smiling... even when you were marching, running, or preparing for final mock scenes... now THAT takes true happiness! :) My prayers are with your family, friends, and co-workers. Thank you.

When I first heard of Officer Barber's passing I was confused and angry. I couldn't believe how someone so young could be taken so fast. Then I remembered something my Grandfather once told me. He said ,"imagine if everyone in the whole world had the same job and that job was to go to the largest beach in the whole world. Everyone would stand in line with their buckets and your job would be to collect the sand from beach. The only thing is you could only take one granule of sand per day. you would spend your whole life and never see the beach cleared, but you would die knowing you did your part." My Grandfather was only half right..you see as Police Officers we patrol our areas and we carry the sand when people in our communities can not. That's what we do...So today I'd Like to say to the Family of Officer Barber..'Don't worry I'll carry his sand. It would be an Honor.

Sometimes God picks the flower
That is still in full bloom;
Sometime, the rosebud's chosen
That we feel He's picked too soon.
Sometimes, the flower is fading
With petals floating down,
But God knows the perfect time
To gather flowers from the ground.
There is a heavenly garden
In which God takes great pleasure
Because He's placed within it
The loved ones that we treasure.
He walks among the blossoms
Giving them eternal rest,
And I know that it must please Him
Because he chose our very best.

Rest in Peace, Officer in Blue.

* * *

I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seems all to brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

We remember your graduation day from the Academy. We met you briefly, introduced by our son who was also graduating. Excited about the job, the "best job in the world" I'm told. Our condolences and sympathy go out to your family, your fiance, your friends, and your fellow officers. One of the "good guys" is gone and you will be missed.

Joselito was one of those people you meet for the first time and think Wow! what a great guy. I remember thinking what a great addition he would be to the Seattle Police Department. He was so passionate about becoming a Seattle Police Officer and did everything to make that happen. Joselito fulfilled a life dream of serving the community.
