The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

We all now find our "Thin Blue Line" now one man thinner. Rest in peace. Your watch has ended, we'll take it from here.

Oh my another officer lost. So early in life and so early was his tour of duty. God most have a new role for this young man to star in. Our prayers and condolences go out to the family, friends and sisters and brothers who wear the badge of law enforcement
"DO NOT WEEP"
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
Rest in peace police officer Barber your brothers and sisters will take it from now.

Joselito, how incredibly heartbreaking to learn that the individual who caused your fatal accident has an extensive criminal record, yet she was one you swore an oath 'to protect and to serve'. Rest in peace; your family will be blanketed with compassion and support from those who have traveled this path before them. You will not be forgotten.

What a tragedy to have your young life cut so short. To be beginning your dream job, to be married soon, to have it all horribly torn away by someone who never should have been behind the wheel in the first place. Our thoughts & prayers & thanks are with you, your fiancee, and your family. May the family of the law enforcement community be a comfort to them. Rest in peace.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Barber, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still

I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Love can help me know my name

Officer Barber,
I'd like to offer my condolences to your family and brother officers. I have been watching the news coverage of your passing, and the community outpouring has been tremendous. You were loved by so many, and the citizens in the neighborhood you patrolled have gathered around the clock in vigil at the scene. The pictures of you after graduating from the academy show you beaming and full of happiness and promise. Thank you for your service, Officer Barber. It is evident you left great postive impressions on everyone you met and were taken from us too soon.
