Reflections for Police Officer Joselito Alvarez Barber

My Dear Brother,

It was you who stopped the speeding bullet and paid the ultimate sacrifice. It will not be in vain. We will be vigilant in ensuring justice is met and we will never forget you. My warmest thoughts go out to your family in this time of grief. May your brothers and sisters at SPD know that we are there for them as well.

Your sacrifice will not be forgotten Joselito. I did not know you, but you are a brother. You sir, took the oath and held true to that oath. I want you to know every time we suit up for shift and everytime we work the streets, we will think of you and the job that you would want us to do. You are my hero Ofc. Barber. I know you will watch over us with others that have gone before you... That my friend makes me have comfort.

To your family, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. You are in my prayers. Thank you for sharing Joselito's time and service for the citizens of the City of Seattle but most of all to SPD.

We will meet on the other side brother... GOD SPEED.

I lost another little brother Sunday morning. I didn't know "Lito" but he was a Brother Officer in Law Enforcement here in Seattle. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and to my Brothers and Sisters in the Seattle Police Department. I feel your pain. I am so sorry this senseless tragedy happened. Seattle Police Officer Joselito Barber's name will forever be etched in the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial where we will never forget his sacrifice. He is "At Peace with Honor..."

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

An angel in the sky must leave his place of rest,
gently tucking his wings beneath his armored vest.

For duty has called, there is much work to do.
Little did he know, this one is dressed in blue.

Arriving on the scene, he knows just what to say.
Follow me, fallen brother, I will show you the way.

Your duty has ended, your work is through.
Come hand your hat beside mine, I'm a cop, too

RIP Brother, you'll always be a hero in our hearts
