I wish to express my condolences to the family of Deputy Gammill. Again we are faced with the question " why the senseless shooting of another officer." As a former back-up partner and friend to Mike Stephenson, gunned down in the line of duty in 1997, it's a question I have never been able to answer, but only hope that there would come a day when it's a question that we need not ask. May god bless Deputy Gammill in the kingdom of heaven and comfort his family. May God watch over and protect those that still serve this country everyday.

Blake,
I've had the best of times working with you over the years. I don't know of any finer law enforcement officer I'd rather work with. I know you always have my back and I will always have yours. I miss you, and love you as much as any man can love another. You were a great asset to this community and department. Blake, I will miss working with you late at night taking the bad people off the street. Enjoy your eternal peace with our maker and I'll see you soon. There is no greater sacrafice than when a man lay down his life for his brother.
Be well my friend.

Officer Gammill my prayers go out to your family. My heart broke last night when they came on the news and told that an officer was down. You see I lost a dear friend of mine last week, Officer Chuck Haist. Your death is so tragic. I view the life of police officers and their families so differently. I have many friends that are officers, but after Chuck's passing and yours I have a new respect for police officers and their families.
Rest in peace.

To the family of DS Blake Gammill;
Blake made the ultimate sacrifice, but you have also made the ultimate sacrifice. You gave him to the people of Douglas County. He is a hero and no one will ever know how many people sleep safe in their beds tonight because of what he did every day just by being who and what he was. Thoughts and prayers are being sent to you from everywhere today. Please take some comfort in that.
