As guardians, when we are called, to say we lived our lives in service to our fellow travellers is a life best lived. You live on in the
hearts and minds of your fellow guardians.

Blake Gammill was a member of the Douglas SAFE KIDS Coalition, a friend, and a strong advocate for Child Passenger Safety. I will miss having to drop everything, to bring car seats to a traffic stop, because Blake would not allow children to ride at risk. He was a wonderful person. It is truly a sad day in Douglas County. My love and prayers go to his family.

At least the evil coward paid the price, what do you say at a time like this not much will help except to know that your law enforcement family will always be with the family and co-workers and please God give them the strenght they will need during this awful time. Deputy Gammill a community and greatful nation will be forever in your debt.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE *** Sent to you by the father of Detective J.D.Koeppen, Raleigh North Carolina; Trooper D.C.Koeppen, New Jersey State Police and Patrolman A.M.Koeppen, Wilmington North Carolina.

First, let me say, GOD BLESS YOU BLAKE! May you soar with Angels.....

I have been dating a Police Officer only a few weeks now, and never truely realized just what it is he does until today. I call him all the time, just to see what he's doing. I ask him if he's been busy and he says, "No, just giving a few traffic tickets. Wish I were doing something more."
Now, I thank God, that he's not doing something more. That he's only writing a ticket and NOT dodging a bullet.
To the family of Deputy Sheriff Blake Gammill, my heart and prayers are with you.
No, this is NOT fair, but I now have the upmost RESPECT for an office of the law. They truely do NOT get the recognition they so very much deserve.

Sometimes I get "premonitions" about things having to do with my job. Last night I had a dream that one of our officers was shot. When I woke this morning, I was happy to learn that all Gwinnett County officers were unharmed.

That happiness ended as soon as I got into the car and headed in to start my day. The radio station was airing the information as to the incident last night.

I am always devastated when an officer gives the ultimate sacrifice and it makes me question why I do this job and if my daughter would forgive me if something were to happen. But this time it hit closer to my heart do to the dream I had last night.

My prayers go out to all the family and friends of Deputy Gammill. Please know that all officers and their families are thinking of you in your time of grief.

God Bless you Deputy Gammill and please look out for us!!!!!

To the wife, children, and family of Deputy Sheriff Gammill,

As a citizen of DC, I would like to express my sorrow for your lost. It is men and women like DS Gammill that help residents feel safe and it is such a great lost when our safety takes away their safety and their life. I am so sorry for your lost and I know that nothing can take away that pain right now, but please except my most heartfelt thanks for sharing this great man with our community. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers for a long time to come.

For all the Deputy Sheriffs and officers thank you so much for being our protector and my hero.
