Reflections for Officer Lois Marie Marrero

She is in our thoughts and prayers. She will not be forgotten

Patrolman
Durham Police Department

It is a tragic death for the Dept and the family of this officer. My condolences to the family and dept. In Houston we had officer Vasquez killed in May. The job is serious business and we must use our utmost caution with these cop killers. May Officer Marrero rest in peace.

Sergeant Joe F. Melendez
Houston Police Dept

To the Family and friends of Officer Marrero: My thoughts and prayers are with you. It is always hard to hear of another officer killed, but this time was my State. May God bless all the brothers and sisters in blue.

Take care

Though I did not know Officer Lois M. Marrero, I know why she put on that uniform and went out to do the job every day. We have forever lost a member of the thin blue line; one that fought the good fight. A low-life who was a thief and a coward in every sense cut short her life and career. We at the International Association of Women Police salute Officer Marrero and send our most sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. Godspeed, Lois.

Officer Donna C. Hillier

MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY OF OFFICER MARRERO AND THE TAMPA POLICE DEPT.

OFFICER JASON NEAL
DOTHAN POLICE DEPT. DOTHAN,AL

My prayers go out to the family, friends, and Tampa Police Department. We lost another part of our law enforcement family. She will never be forgotten and even though I never knew her, she was a hero and will always be a hero. May you rest in Peace.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF OUR FALLEN SISTER IN BLUE. AS A OFFICER, IT IS ESPECIALLY HARD TO SEE ONE OF YOUR OWN PASS. AS A FEMALE OFFICER MYSELF, THE DEATH OF ANOTHER SISTER IS JUST ALL THAT MUCH MORE OF AN IMPACT. MAY GOD BLESS YOU. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.

"AND IF ONE SHOULD FALL AMONG LIFES THINGS, THE BADGE SHE WEARS, TURNS INTO WINGS"

Officer Terri Lemus
McAllen ISD Police Dept.

My condolences to the Tampa Police Department and to Officer Marrero's Family. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and the man who gunned you down was a coward. You can now rest in peace with your Brother and Sister Officers in the thin blue sky.

PTLM. Michael Walker
Providence Police Department

I saw the news footage of Ofc Marrero lying in the street. What a heartbreak, but try to picture the next scene of her life, A new body with no pain, literally carried into the presence of an eternal God by his angels to be forever alive and in his care. I know this may not seem fair right now but we all have an appointed time to die. Her's was a heros death, fighting for Right, Peace and Justice that I am sure she believed in with all her heart. God bless her and give strength to those who loved her and will miss her. Scripture says "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they will be called the sons (children) of God." This is God's promise to her. With much heartfelt prayer, Ptlm Michael A. Brown - Ret.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of another Officer. My condolences to the Tampa Police Dept. May God be with them.

Ofc. Lisa Satcher
Gainesville Fl Police Dept

We just heard the tragic news today at our morning briefing....another officer killed in the line of duty. I am also a veteran officer with only 10 years left until retirement. As veterans, we tend to get too lax after we have survived many years in this profession.

Officer Marrero's tragic loss is a reminder to all law enforcement officers to exercise their officer safety skills each and every day to ensure we return home to our families. My prayers are with her family and co-workers.

Officer Sharon Irwin
Davis PD, California

Rest in peace!

George Aggott, Patrol Officer

My wife and I were visiting relatives in Tampa when we heard the news about Officer Marrero. I paid my respects at the memorial in front of Tampa Police Headquarters. I also had the opportunity to speak with fellow officers, who were holding up as best as they could. I never met Officer Marrero, but I share the same sense of family loss as her co - workers. All of us who wear the badge and put on the uniform know what the risks are. Officer Marrero, you did a job that was well done. Rest easy now. You will always be remembered. God bless you. 10 - 7.

I would just like to send my condolenses to the entire family of Officer Lois M. Marrero. I am a 17-year-old Canadian citizen who plans to become a Police Officer for the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Police in Ontario. It is unfortunate that officers continue to lose their lives in the line of duty - no doubt doing what they love to do. I heard about this incident on Canadian television and was outraged that such a senseless act took place.

I will keep Officer Marrero in my prayers along with other officers throughout the USA and Canada who continue to put their lives on the line for the safety of their country. I'm sure Officer Marrero will be missed by all who knew her and the reassurance that she is now in a better place is all that I can extend to all those hurt by the loss. This is a painful time -- as it is whenever any officer is killed -- and this officer, who was simply attempting to stop a burglary suspect, is a true HERO in BLUE.

The following is a poem:

-----------
The Police
-----------
I have been where you fear to be
I have seen what you fear to see
I have done what you fear to do
All these things, I have done for you.

I am the man you lean upon
The man you cast your scorn upon
The man you bring your troubles to
All of these men I've been to you.

The man you ask to stand apart
The man you feel should have no heart
The man you call "the man in blue"
But I'm just a man, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see
That I'm not what you ask of me
So take this badge and take this gun
Will you take it?...Will anyone?

And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered child cry
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

I dedicate this to the sweet memory of Officer Lois M. Marrero and to all those men and women in blue who keep society in control so that we may all live in peace.

To you Officer Marrero - May God Bless You Always. Rest in Peace. You are truly a national HERO in BLUE. God Bless.
