Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Lois Marie Marrero

"To Serve and Protect" has been repeated in so many times on this site. In life that was how you lived. Yesterday, proved that is how you continue in spirit. I know my guardian angel was you. God Blessed You to Us. On this sixth anniversary I would like to express a very sincere "thank you" for being our friend in life and our guardian angel in spirit. You will never be forgotten, forever missed and loved by the three of us. Much love, Amanda, Ashley and Jerraine

Officer Marrero, I learned about you from your sister during the 2007 Police Unity Tour. I just wanted to let you know that I will never forget your sacrafice.
May God continue to grant you eternal peace.

Christmas 2000 ... Lois's words of encouragement to us on climbing the ladder, sitting on the roof top and stringing endless amounts of Christmas lights and rooftop decorations... "You can only fall as far as the ground, then the novelty is over"

In the five years since you've been gone, Ashley and I can not bring ourselves to climbing that ladder to put up the Christmas lights. Everything else (ground side) looks great :)

This was your favorite time to shine, Merry Christmas Lois.

We miss you, we love you, you are forever in our hearts.
Amanda, Ashley and Jerraine

As a citizen of Tampa, I would like to say thank you for trying to protect us from the dangers that you see day to day.I know that Officers never get the recognition they deserve from the public until they lose their lives in the line of duty, but I say a prayer every time I see a patrol car enroute to a scene for their safe return.

Officer Marrero's death was not in vain. It is how she lived that is a beacon for all of us to look towards. She dedicated her life to law enforcement and her life ended doing what she loved to do for 18 years. For some reason her tragic case rings so clearly in my mind. I was on duty that fateful day halfway across the State. I heard it on a local radio station. It made me realize that no matter how many years you have on "the job" that one bad day can end it all. While trying to make a difference in someones life I hope somehow you know you have.

We miss you ...

I can't believe how the actions of this day, four yrs ago, changed so many lives forever. Who would have known we'd all have to make our way in life without your smile and words of wisdom. I took you and Mikki always being across the street for granted.

The girls and I have moved from Tampa, as we return for medical appts for Amanda, we always visit you and leave beautiful flowers. I know we can still talk and you guide us in a less obvious way. All these yrs later, the tears and pain of losing you are just as hard as they were that morning.

We miss you so much, I know God has blessed your soul and you are safe. We will never forget you or Mikki, you both were the best friends we ever had.

Much love and respect ... Amanda, Ashley, and Jerraine

Just an old timer from T.P.D. looking back on all the good times I've enjoyed while working at this department, there were some bad times, but luckily some of the memories you were a big part of were some of the best. You are missed.

I have been a Police Officer for nine years, 3 1/2 years with the Palmetto Police Department. I was at Officer Marrero's funeral and serve in the the Honor Guard detail. I did not know Officer Marrero, but I being a fellow Officer, I am proud to wear the Uniform as a Police Officer. I was in the Honor Guard detail at her Funeral and I am so proud of her self sacrifice and dedication. I carry her funeral card given to me at her funeral every night I work and I pray for Officers that have given the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless to you and your families. I wish the public could understand the sacrifices Officers make every day, when they patrol the streets and protect the citizens of every community they work in. I salute every Officer for their loyalty and dedication.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer. Tonight, July 6, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Officer Lois Marrero who died on this date two years ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Marrero's sacrifice will never be forgotten.
