Given Officer Marrero's tour of duty. It is likely that she was one of the officer's that have inspired my career while I was growing up in the City of Tampa. I was told of this tragedy through one of our Korean National Criminal Investigators. Rest assure that you will not go un-thought of by those who's lives and hearts you have touched. Thank You Officer Marrero and God Bless.

How can we truly say thank you
For the selfless, brave job that you do
Chasing the bad guys
Answering sad cries
For strangers you never knew

With your life on the line every moment
As you reach deep inside to go on
Events unravel so fast
Will this call be your last
Will your family and friends have to mourn

Are the people aware of your sacrifice
Of the fear and uncertainty each day
There is no longer pain
But you won't die in vain
God bless you from your Tampa Bay

I would like to express my sorrow for Ofc. Marrero, and her family. We heard about this tragedy in our lineup room before our midnight shift that night. My wife is a female officer, also with OPD and I immediatly thought of how devestated I would be to get a call from our chief like that. I called my wife that night and told her the terrible news. The suspect is no longer at large due to help of Ofc. Marrero's brave actions. But the price our femle officers in the central part of Florida have paid in the last few years is too high. I immediatly thought of our own Ofc. Tanja King, the first OPD female officer killed in the line of duty.
To the committed Officers of The Tampa Police Dept. from us here at The Orlando Police Dept. I quote 'John 15:13'
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.":.... Even if that man is a woman. Stay safe lets not add any more names to the wall.

Ofc. J. Sauvage
Orlando Police Dept.

Deepest sympathies to the Tampa PD and to Officer Marrero's family. Rest in peace.
As Utah grieves for 2 police chief's, we also grieve for your loss. God Bless you all.

To friends, family, and the fellow officers of fallen Officer Marrero:

My deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow officers of the Tampa Police Dept. In a world where they seems to be a shortage of heroes. Officer Marrero and others like her somehow seem to bring a small measure of comfort and peace to all of us. Her dedication should be the example for others to follow.
The flowers I laid at the Tampa police memorial, amongst all the others, should serve as small gesture of our, the citizens of Tampa, heartfelt sorrow at the loss of Officer Marrero.

My prayers go out to the family of Officer Marrero and the Tampa Police Department. Every time I hear of an officer getting killed it breaks my heart. It is a job few people understand much less one most people will do. It takes a special person. God Bless Officer Marrero.
