Deputy Blair was shot and killed while attempting to contact two known gang members. He was shot as he stepped out of his patrol car. The shooter was arrested and charged with murdering a peace officer. The man was convicted and sentenced to death.

Deputy Blair is survived by his wife and three sons.

i was a gangmember belonged to a lynwood neighberhood deputy blair must have arrested me around 6 7 times as a youngster i will never forget the time he stoped his partol car and took the time to talk to me and encouraged me to get out of gangs and go back to school even my mother knew him the numerous times he took me home instead of juvinal hall hes words and showing me he cared made a difrence in my life may you rest with the angels deputy blair you touched my life with youre words and actions thankyou
