Capers Wannamaker, Jr.

Chief of Police Capers Wannamaker was killed in an automobile accident when his patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree on Burke Road.

Chief Wannamaker was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had served with the St. Matthews Police Department for 14 years. He had previously served with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office for eight years and the South Carolina Department of Corrections for three years.

On today, the 10th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
