Jasper H. Fincher

Captain Fincher died from complications after being bitten on the hand by an intoxicated man. Captain Fincher was taking license cards from the man when he was bitten. He developed septicemia and died a little more than a month later.

Captain Fincher drove race horses prior to joining the department and served as the first president of the Williamsport Police Pension Fund Association. Captain Fincher served as captain longer than anyone ever holding that position, nearly 25 years total.

What a long and honorable career you had. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 86th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.
