Marshal Davis was shot and killed by one of three brothers who were outlaws. One of the men had been arrested but the other two escaped from authorities and fled to North Baltimore. Marshal Davis encountered the two men in an alley off of Main Street and was shot and killed. Although wounded, he was able to return fire and killed one of the suspects. The second suspect escaped but was later shot and killed by police in South Bend, Indiana.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 81rst anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
