Detective Curtin died after falling backwards down three steps while on-duty.

Detective Curtin was on a post at the Polish Embassy in Manhattan at 12 East 66 Street when he fell backwards and down three steps. Detective Curtin was taken to Roosevelt Hospital where he was pronounce dead.

Detective Curtin was assigned to the 19th Precinct and had served with the New York City Police Department for 29 years.
