Deputy Sheriff Charles Carter was killed in an automobile accident while pursuing a robbery suspect. He was driving on Cavitt Stallman Road when he lost control of his vehicle. He died a short time later at Roseville District Hospital. He was survived by his wife and was a veteran of World War I.

Deputy Carter had previously served with the United States Army in World War I. He was survived by his wife.
