John Joseph Shanahan

Sergeant John Shanahan was struck and killed by a vehicle while directing traffic at the scene of an accident on the North Shore Road near the Lynn-Revere line.

He was taken to a hospital in Lynn where he died from his injuries the following day. The driver who struck him was convicted of manslaughter.

Sergeant Shanahan had served with the Revere Police Department for 25 years.
