Inspector Brian Olcomendy died as the result of complications from surgery required after he injured his knee while conducting a narcotics raid.

Inspector Olcomendy had served in law enforcement for 21 years. He was survived by his wife and three children.

Brian, Thank you for your heroism and sacrifice. I have heard many stories about you from your family. You loved your job and always did your best to protect the community in which you worked. I married into the family by marrying your wife's cousin almost 10 years ago and have gotten to know your wife Andrea. Funniest lady I have ever met. I am a fellow police officer at Brisbane PD. You would be proud of your family as your son and one of your nephews are now police officers at SFPD.
