The suspect was arrested a short time later by the county sheriff and several deputies. The suspect's father was also charged as an accessory to murder.

God Bless you Great Grandfather Harrell. Unfortunately you left this earth many years before I was born but I loved and grew up next door to your son Hardin Lester Harrell. He was a good man, you would have been proud. I am the daughter of your Granddaughter Doris Mae. I do not know if you ever met her but I hope you are both in Heaven together waiting for me
