Officer Agarano suffered a fatal heart attack while on an undercover assignment with other officers. Officer Agarano was in a remote area of Wailuku, Hawaii, when he went to sit under a shade tree. Other officers noticed that he did not get up and discovered him unconscious. They performed CPR on him until he was flown to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officer Agarano had been with the agency for 20 years and was survived by his wife, 4-year-old twin daughters, and grown son.
