Officers Yeszerski and William Clements, of the Seat Pleasant Police Department, were shot and killed while supervising the towing of vehicle from an apartment complex parking lot.

The owner of the vehicle had threatened Officer Clements two days earlier when he was warned that the vehicle would be towed. As the tow truck driver was preparing to leave with the vehicle, the owner approached the officers, pulled out a .38 caliber handgun, and shot both officers several times. The suspect was shot and wounded by another Seat Pleasant police officer arriving on the scene.

The suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life April 17, 1969.

Officer Yeszerski,
I worked with an old salt who started his career in Seat Pleasant PD, he worked there when you and Officer Clements were killd in the LOD. Every time he talked about it his eyes clouded over and you could see him relive the pain he suffered in experiencing the death of two commrades. I guess what I am telling you is you truly have never been forgotten. You service and sacrafice will serve as your legacy. the fact that you had gotten off duty, but yet still felt compelled to assist a fellow officer speaks to your comittment to Law Enforcement. May you rest in peace.
