Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Robert Allen Lasso

Thank you for your service. It was an honor to service you during my employment. God bless your family and all those you left behind. Rest in Peace

Brian Krische
Former Northampton County 911

My condolences to the family, fellow officers and friends of Officer Robert Lasso.

Final Inspection
The Policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To my Church have you been true?"

The officer squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.

But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I've never expected or had too much. But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.

"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."

I remember seeing Officer Lasso quite often walking by the municipal building, and had interacted with him on several occasions. He was always smiling or laughing...always had a wave if he drove by you on the street.

This is a small little town... a very tight-knit community. There's no way to prepare for this magnitude of loss. It's suddenly much more tangible than watching it on the evening news. I live so close to the department headquarters that it always made me feel a little safer. I wondered last night, "Who protects the police who protect us? Why did this happen here?"

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Lasso. Please know that in your greatest pain, the community is with you. May that sliver of hope somehow matter to all those who are grieving today.

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.
