To your family,
I would like to give our dearest thanks and condolences. My family is both LE and Military and I've seen the sacrifices that have been put forth. It sickens me to see that a wonderful Officer was taken by one of the one's he SWORE to protect, in BOTH uniforms. My heart goes out to you and am thankful that his murderer is no longer a threat...to anyone, anymore. As for his good deed...it's not a surprise, if more would stop and realize that LE and our Military members are human beings (like the rest of us)..maybe they would think twice before assuming they are the enemy. Again, Thank You Officer/Major Henwood, you've made the ultimate sacrfifce...

The Final Inspection

The Police Officer stood and faced God,
Whose time shall always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you policeman,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
So if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the police officer waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

R.I.P. my brother in blue.

It is people like, Officer Henwood, that help to shape our communities, by carrying the burdens of kindness, Justice and Righteousness on your shoulders. Thank you for watching over all of us.

Officer Henwood is truly a hero and warrior of the wars of both overseas, and here on our own soil. May God be the Judge of the worthless person that took his life. Officer Henwood will also be a hero of the young man that was truly moved by Officer Henwood's generosity by merely buying him some cookies at McDonalds. There will definately be a void in our society that Officer Henwood is with God on Heaven's Beat!

Thank you for your service.

My deepest sympathy is with his family, and his Brothers and Sisters in blue!

God bless all of you.

Jeremy,

I am heartbroken for your family and everybody you served. Your kindess, sacrifice and service are an example of how we should live our lives. You made a tremendous difference for so many people and have influenced me to be a better person. Yours is particularly devastating loss. Your actions honor police officers, Marines and your familiy. You are tremendously missed.

I watched a video last night of your Random act of Kindness when you bought a little boy some cookies at McDonalds. Must have been the air but my eyes were watering. I pray that God Welcomes you with open arms as you enter paradise. Your act of kindness says it all brother. From one Marine to another. Semper Fi.

My heart aches for his family and our loss in a city that needs hero's such as him! He gave the way a real man gives, of his HEART/SOUL, to his job, what he did daily, at war, over sea's & on the streets! It's not hard to have a hardened heart I know, dealing with what the public has become! This man didn't, he's a the best example of a single act of kindness, buying cookies for a young boy, to only be killed by a single act of hate, this is what police deal with everyday, 24/7, while we sleep & go on our merry way.

EVERYONE, should go out everyday, and do at least one single act of kindness, to another you know nothing about, you may be what changes the angry heart of someone by doing that! It's worth a try, in this officers honor, you never know, what is your last day on this earth, why not make it a great one!

EVERYONE also should thank a Soldier/Cop/Firefighter/EMT/Nurse/Doctor/Clerk/Wait-person/buser/ I think you're getting my point, to many angry people, to many mean people, try and be nice, smile, shake a hand, throw a kiss, hug someone, help someone!

Pray for this mans family and all those who serve, that, they deserve & more!

A big Angel named Jeremy & his friends are in Heaven, I believe they are Guardian Angels now, more work for them....because I believe God picks the strong ones for that job, they can't be hurt anymore, can't feel or see any pain, we owe to them to be the best people we can be!

God Bless, Love and Prayers from us forever!

God Bless you Brother & thank you not only for your service to your community, but also to our country. Your 'last act of kindness' shows your true character of who you were & will never be forgotten!

Another senseless (and all to common) act of violence on law enforcement. The only justice was that the cowardly killer was brought to SWIFT justice!

Our prayers to your family & our Brothers / Sisters with San Diego PD.

Thank you, Sir for serving this great Country and the fine Citizens of San Diego. As you grace the gates of Heaven I hope you can see that this Country knows of your sacrifice and today has a face to place with the definition of "Hero". I will remember the video of your last act of kindness and keep it with me as I continue to serve in my duties.

I saw the MSNBC video of this heart warming story of an officer buying cookies for a young boy, only for it to take a horrible twist, that his life is lost just moments later for no reason, other then the car he drove, and the uniform he wore. How sad that this man served his country for us, our freedom, and some scumbag took his life on American soil! I hope the suspects soul rots in hell. And I am sure this man, Jeremy Henwood, will be an angel not just looking over his family, and keeping a close eye on his sister, but also with that young boy who aspires to be an NBA star. Thank you Officer Henwood, you are and were a true American Everyday Hero. God Bless you always.

Officer Henwood, you are a fine example of what an officer and a gentleman is supposed to be. I thank you for your service to our country in the Marines and to your home community as an officer. You left a mark that will last forever on that young man you bought those cookies for. You left a positive mark and many many more people by your example. All of us brothers and sisters in blue are gonna miss you brother !

Rest in peace, Brother. May your family, friends, military family, and police family find the strength to go on. Seeing your "final act of kindness" featured on the NBC world news last night left me crying for hours. Having just lost a good friend in the line of duty earlier this year, it was like re-living it all over again. You sound like you were an amazing man, Jeremy..I'm sure God kept a special place close to him for you. Rest easy, Brother.

Love,

Rest in Peace Officer Henwood. You lived a great life in the service of others. You lived your life not asking why should I, but doing your duty and never questioning what was in it for you. God Bless you and Semper Fi brother!!! Watch over the rest of us as we carry on.

Your service to your community and this nation will always be remembered. Your act of kindness in buying cookies for that young man were the definition of community policing and I hope that other officers follow your lead. Sometimes that little gesture makes a huge difference. Rest in peace brother and I will always be thankful of you and mourn your sacrifice.
