Reflections for Police Officer Jeremy Nicholas Henwood

A message from one mother to another:
My heart aches for you as I feel the pain you must be living with at this times. From the moment our babies are placed in our arms we want nothing but wonderful things for them. Like you my son chose the military prior to becoming a police officer. We support them whether we agree with their decisions or not and feel nothing but pride in all they do. We breathe a sigh of relief when they put their two feet back on US soil and rejoice when they land the job of their dreams putting any personal concerns tightly away in the back of our hearts. You put their happiness ahead of yours. What more could any son want from his mother? He is a reflection of the love & support he was given from his family & friends. I know you will always be proud. I just wanted you to know that another mother feels your pain & will be keeping you in her heart and prayers

While our city is mourning the senseless loss of Officer Jeremy Henwood, we express gratitude for his commitment to serve and protect, not only our city, but our nation. It is my hope and prayer that he is an example and inspiration to many young men and women of what it means to live a life of integrity.

My broken heart goes out to his mother especially. Just imagining her pain brings me to my knees.

To all who choose this profession, and to the families of law enforcement, thank you.

A grateful citizen.

I cannot imagine a greater hero. One that served the nation, and then came home safely to continue serving the community....it makes no sense to me, so I can only honor you and weep for your family. I hope all the brothers and sisters of SDPD take pride in having known you and will continue to remember you and be safe in all of their travels always. GOD BLESS

It's sad and extremely frightening that officers are being set up on fake calls and hit like this on the street.

Sad officers can't even sit at traffic lights anymore these days. A Bexar County Deputy was shot and killed at a traffic light not to long ago.

Rest In Peace

Jeremy,
You have left an indelible impact on all of us that have served with you and that have known you. Your happy-go-lucky yet always professional attitude is what I will always remember about you.
You were taken from us way too early in a manner that no one deserves. The only way I can rationalize this is that someone with a higher rank called you up to the big leagues. You are an inspiration to many, I am glad to have known you.
I will never forget you but I will always miss you my friend.

My sincerest condolences go out to the family, friends and all whose lives have been affected by this tragedy and loss of a dear life.

I am the mother of a deceased U.S. Marine (Brandon Johnson in 2002), and I know first hand the hurt and the pain associated with the loss of a child and a friend. But I also know the comfort, joy and peace that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

During this very difficult time, trust in the lord with all your hearts, and do not lean to your own understanding. This day, Caption Henwood is resting in the arms of our Dear Father in Heaven.

He served God and our nation well and honorable, and today he is at peace in paradise.

May God's grace, peace, love and comfort be with his family, friends and loved ones always.
