It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I don't know any officers, but I read ODMP.org everyday. I saw the video of Officer Henwood on FB. I wish every youngster in this country could see that video and witness a true hero, in everyway. I'm sure his parents were very proud of him. My heart breaks when I hear these stories. He will never be forgotten. This world would be a much better place if everyone had a heart like Jeremy's.

Happy birthday, Jeremy. (Nov. 10, 2012)
When we toast to the fallen on each Marine Corps birthday, yours is always the hardest for me to handle.
I still laugh about the times we had in Weapons Co.--especially at 29 Palms. Hard to believe you're gone.
We miss you, brother.

Today is your birthday. May your family know peace today, knowing that 38 years ago you entered this world destined to make your life count. Your life and story has touched hundreds of thousands of people across the world. Even in death you saved the lives of 2 organ recipients because of your desire to serve others and because of your hope. As a fellow Texan, a fellow alumnae of The University of Texas, and as a mid-city San Diego resident, I speak on behalf of our community when I say we are honored to have had you serve both our City of San Diego and our country. May your life be a reminder to us all to be generous with our spirit, our time, and to commit to make our lives count for good.

I served with Major Henwood during his last deployment to Afghanistan. We became good friends. He was trying to get me to move to California, join the San Diego PD and become a reservist. I told him he was crazy!!! His death was a shock to all of us that served with him. I miss him. He was an Americans American. May God bless his family and friends with peace.

I am profoundly moved and deeply humbled by Officer Henwood's dedication to his country and to his community. It is fitting to note that the last day of his life was spent as he would have wished...serving and giving generously to others!
To truly honor his memory each of us should take a moment to relect upon our own lives, and to consider the many ways in which we too may serve our nation, our communities, and our fellow men and women. May a loving God give strength and comfort to his family and loved ones in their sorrow.

Police Officer Jeremy Nicholas Henwood was and is an American "Hero" and the good to die young, why is this? why do the best of the best get killed by senseless individuals who have no respect for life, no even their own. Men and Women like Officer Henwood are subjected to more danger because they put themselves in harms way to help others that need help. According to scriptures Jeremy is a peace maker and all peace makers are called the son's of God.

This is not the end, but, only the beginning, for we will all see Officer Henwood again at the resurrection, the day of the Almighty God. This is where all accounts will be settled once and for all. Life for the just and judgement for the unrighteous. My prayers go out to the family members of this great man and for all the great men of this nation, not only for this nation but, for all great men of this World. Judgement is coming and God will settle all accounts in full. Justice will prevail. We all can be on the right side, this is where Jeremy Henwood was and is. My heart goes out to his family, may God keep you safe, I ask this in Jesus Christ's name.

"The Good they do die young" I do not remember the name of the song that quote comes from but it has proven to be so true. It is apparent that Officer Henwood was a good man. He served his country, his city, and a young man who lived in his city. His life was one of service. A good man who died by a reckless act. May God Bless him and all who loved him. He served all of us who know of him by giving to us his example of how life should be lived: lived with selfless acts of service to others. While I did not personally know Officer Henwood I will always remember him.

Brave men die only once, but cowards die a thousand deaths...

But once is enough, and greater love hath no man than he that lay down his life for his brothers.

The world would be a better place for more men like Officer Henwood. But we can all take comfort in that although there is so much bad on this planet, the good and decent will always shine through.
I didnt know Officer Henwood, nor have I ever been to San Diego or the United States, but such was his act of kindness I had to leave a comment.
Here in Liverpool, England our local football (soccer) team has a motto that is known throughout the world, "You'll Never Walk Alone". Officer Henwood, and good and decent Police Officers everywhere...remember, You'll NEVER Walk Alone.

Good Night God Bless

My thoughts go out to the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Henwood. I am riding in memory of Officer Henwood in this year's Police Unity Tour May 10 - 12, 2012. I ride with the Florida Chapter, Chapter VIII. I would like to make contact with some from the family or the agency to give them the bracelet I will wear during the ride. The ride finishes at the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. on May 12 and I will be at the Candle Light Vigil on the 13th. My office number is 850-891-4366. "We Ride for Those Who Died"
