It is written" Eye hath not seen, nor ear herd, nor has it entered the heart of man the things that God hath prepared fore them that love him" This hole thing at best, Is a difficult thing to Understand, Never-the -less We all Pray that this God that Knows all things, knows what it is that we all need and what we all hope for!!!!!!

Been a year already. Was a pleasure working with you. I don't think it is much of a coincidence that I just re-discovered a couple pictures of you I didn't know I had. It was one of our last rides together with the Blue Knights CO IX to a brother's cabin. Finding those was a reminder that you are up there watching over each and every one of us who worked with you. Rest easy Sam, we got your watch now.

Sam,

I grew to know you you as I worked next door to you when you were in Ault and I was in Eaton. I did not know you as well as many others were able to, however, I am greatful for the time I did know you. May god be with you and your family. Rest in peace my friend.

We are fast approaching your 1 yr anniversary and it seems to short. Your team misses you everyday, and I will miss you always. Your were not only a member of my team, a fellow Deputy, you were and always will be my friend. No words can express how I or any of us felt that day as we stood there with you. We were cheated out of your humor, spirit, and friendship by the act of a coward. Know this my friend, I will expect that when I check in someday, you are there waiting, with a beer and a fishing pole. We have a lot to catch up on. I will see you on the other side.

I just wanted to say that Officer Brownlee's family is still in my prayers. Seeing the riderless horse during the Greeley Stampede parade yesterday brought everyone in my family to tears. Such a loss. Praying that God's comfort is resting on all of you who knew and loved him well.

Rest in peace Brother Officer. I was born in Greeley but grew up in California. I retired after thirty eight years in law enforcement. A little in all of us is lost with your passing. My heart goes out to your family. They can take pride in what you were doing and I hope they find comfort in knowing you were protecting your fellow citizens when you were taken from us.

Every day you would wake put on your badge and go to work to protect and serve. some things in this life are taken from us and we feel empty without them. I would like you and your family to know you are my hero for on your final day you bravely steped up and gave the one sacrifice that many would never and you did this all for the safety of the people you serve. Hero may not be the right word to use for a man of compleet selflessness but there is a spot for you next to the father and son because you so selflessly gave your life to protect life. I thank you Sir from the bottom of my heart and pray every day to raise my children with the values you lived and gave your life by. And to the family rest easy for you are protected by a true angel of mankind.

LEO's are truly a rare breed. Each one deals with adversity, death and mourning differently. Having the unfortunate experience of losing my brother-in-law in the line of duty I do know what Deputy Brownlee's family, friends and fellow officers are going through. Know this, he gave of himself without thought of consequence. There is no greater love than to lay your life down and pay the ultimate sacrifice for your fellow man. You are a true warrior, hero and down right beautiful human being. Rest in peace now, you have earned it, we will take it from here.

Sam was one of those cops who just got “it”. He knew what true sacrifice was, and he did not fear it, but embraced it! As an FTO he gave his all to his trainee, so that when that Deputy was on his own he had what it took to do the job. When he helped a citizen it was not to make himself feel good but to better the situation for that person in need. Sam knew what love was for he displayed it for all his friends, and gave it so freely even if it was covered in that tough cop exterior, Sam you could not hide it! Sam you were one of the good ones and I am honored to be able to call you a colleague, teacher, warrior, but most of all a friend! I sit here with a tear in my eye as I write this, like the song says “I’m not crying for you, I’m crying for me”(Toby Keith). While we will miss you, we will carry on, we will take the fight to the enemy, we will not give up, we will continue to learn and get better, we owe you that much. There is no good death, but yours my friend was a warrior’s death. A coward dies many deaths, a brave man but ONE!, you only died one death. I may miss your presence, but you will always be a part of me my friend, may God hold you in his tender mercy.

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER
Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...
