"In The Line Of Duty"

What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.

Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.

It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join
"The Best Of The Best"

It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only having the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts.
Something no one can ever take away.

It means that family members will stand at the officers grave
And wonder why ...
Why would someone take an officer's life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew.

Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of heroes killed
"In The Line Of Duty"

From a resident of Seattle:

To Officer Brenton's family and fellow officers, I'm sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you. Thank you Officer Brenton for your service.

My thoughts are also with the investigators as they find and apprehend the person or persons responsible for this.

My thoughts are with Officer Sweeney as she recovers.

And finally, my thoughts are with all police officers as they risk their lives so everyone can be safe. Your work is very much appreciated. Thanks to all of you for your service.

It takes a special individual to wear the badge, many do and well but the pride and attention to detail to teach a new person is a gift. Your sacrifice will save others and they will never forget.

On behalf of the men and women of the Woodburn Police Department I want to express our deepest condolences to the Brenton Family and the SPD family. We lost one of our own in the line of duty last year, and your loss of Tim in such a tragic and senseless way reminds us of the depth of our grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve. Rest well our brother, we have the watch now.

Tim, I never knew you, maybe we "met" in passing at training, but that doesn't matter. What is important is that we will never forget you, that your family will never be alone and that the short time you had training Britt paid off - she did a great job. Rest in peace brother, we'll take care of things on this end. You will always be missed, but never forgotten.
