Josh:
I sat here today and watched your celebration of life and beyond a shadow of doubt know that your are in the arms of Jesus even as I write this. I never got a chance to know you but look forward to meeting you in Heaven one day. I look at your sweet baby face and realize you are as young as my chilldren. I know you would want everyone to not take life here on earth for granted because time here is just a short time compared to eternity. Your family is such an insipration and your grandfather touched my heart with his words and songs. They are such a loving, Godly family. They introduced us to a young man who was not only compassionate but also loved the job he was called here to do. I thank you for your service to the City of Montgomery. I also thank you for being what God called you to be... a fine young christian who was not afraid to live his life the way God wanted him to. To your family, know they are always in our prayers.

As I sit here and read the reflection that other officers have written, its hard to decide what to say. You Officer Broadway paid the untimate price for what you do. You served with honor & pride as you read what co workers wrote about you!!! Their are no words to say to make things better for your family, but only you were so young and had a great future ahead of you. Thankyou for what you stood for and rest in peace my brother. You can now look down and watch over your brothers in BLUE. God Speed Officer Joshua Patrick Broadway!!!!!

I remember Officer Broadway a few years ago when he served in the Civil Air Patrol. Throughout our time serving together, he exemplified great pride and strength while participating in Ground Search and Rescue Training here in Alabama. One of the finest and dedicated individuals I've ever met in my life.

To the family and friends of Officer Joshua Broadway and the members of the Montgomery Police Dept.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered when Officer Broadway was tragically killed.

To Joshua's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son Larry was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

In reading his reflections, I can see that Joshua was an amazing young man who will be missed by so many. His department has also suffered another great loss and once again are grieving for another member of their police family.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Joshua gave to his community and the citizens of Alabama, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 25, 2009.

Broadway it was a pleasure knowing you. It seems like yesterday we (2007-A) were all at Mildred Street going through the Academy. We all had a good time and use to pick on you about that baby face of yours lol. You were a great guy and turned out to be an even better cop. The Police Department has really done well in honoring your family and your memory. Your sacrifice to this department and to the citizens of Montgomery will not be forgotten. Rest in peace brother in blue.
