The only comfort in this most tragic & horrible loss is that our dear wonderful friend is safe in the arms of his loving Savior. I weep for your loss Susannah & for your children. Please know that Andy's goodness touched many & that his legacy of Life Eternal will go on. I was so proud to hear he had become a police officer and I know he served bravely & honorably of that you and your children will always be proud!

Susanna,

I am a friend of Jamie Hawkins and also in your Law Enforcement Wives for Christ group on Myspace. I weep for your loss.

Your husband was a brave, brave man. I hope each day that your family can recover from his loss.

As a dispatcher, his death further shows me that I must be as aware and focused as I can to get my officers home each night to there families.

I will pray for you each day!

My prayers are with the family of Officer Widman. As a prior law enforcement officer every day we took the risks of our life ending. Today, my 22 year old son, is a police officer and when I see that Officer Widman has been on the force a little over a year, is survived by a wife and three children, my heart aches praying for all officers in the world who take on many times a thankless job. "Sometimes we don't know why things happen, all we can do is hold on to the love, memories and each other." May the family find peace. Put your faith into God to help you through these troubling times. Godspeed, Marilyn Randa

"This is my shield.
I bear it before me into battle,
but it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother
out of its shadow
nor my city out of its shelter.
I will die with my
shield before me
facing the enemy.
"Gates of Fire By Stephen Pressfield

Thanks for being brave and taking up the shield. Rest in peace brother, your shield has already been picked up by a brother and the battle will carry on.

Words can not express the sadness I feel at losing a college buddy. Having just lost a good friend from our own department just a little over a year ago, my heart sinks to go through it again. You were a sweetheart Andy! You knew the Lord and that is what matters...you are with HIM! Susanna and the kids are in my heart and prayers. There is always a thin, blue line.... I wish I was more eloquent with words, but I am at a loss right now. Peace be with you my friend. Shine down on us.

Here in Toledo we are all told of yet another hero that has been taken from us. Please know that I pray for your family - especially your children. Thank you for not only serving as a police officer - but also serving for our Lord. It takes special people to totally give themselves for others - you have done just that. I am truly at a loss for words - thank you for your service to protect others Officer Widman.
