When Andrew applied for a job with us the command staff questioned him in detail about his seemingly drastic shift in careers. His education and background was solidly with the Lord. He convinced us that this wasn't a shift in careers at all and that he would still be able to help people which was what he cared most about.

We remember Andy now as the Cop he had become in a very short career. He treated people with respect and decency. He always had a smile on his face and had a positive attitude about everything. Andy was also very conscientious, making sure his paperwork was without errors to avoid arrests from being dropped. He was on his way to having a very successful careeer in law enforcement.

We remember Andy because he made an impression on us from the start. We will remember Andy now because he died a Hero and gave the ultimate sacrifice to the City, the Citizens and this Agency.

His family will need much support from this point on. We will do everything we can to help them with whatever they need. They are a part of the FMPD family now just as Andy was. I can tell you that the family is in awe over the outporing of support from all the local law enforcement personnel, dignitaries, businesses, citizens and even the media. Thanks to everyone for that!

Andy we will miss you for all you have done and all that you would have done!

Be at peace Brother knowing you were doing the work that others would not even begin to understand. You stepped out as many others do in the course of their tour of duty, to help the citizens you protect daily. You will live on in the hearts of us who walked before you and the ones who will walk ahead of you. God Bless your family.

To the family of officer Widman, this is a great loss for you his wife and children and other family members. Treasure those special moments that you had together, remember that he is gone in the physical aspect but his spirit lives on in you and your children. May God strengthen you and your family as you face this difficult time. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding but in all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.
