My condolences go out to your family, friends and fellow officers. You are in my prayers. As with all LEO's that die in the line of duty, lets reflect on how he lived instead of how he died. You are a hero in my eyes.

I think I'm safe to say that Widman was not only an inspiration to me, but to everyone that knew him. He was a man of God and would have done anything to anyone. Law Enforcement (work) is not going to be the same without him. He will greatly be missed! ~RIP Andrew Widman~

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared GOD's premises of all it's undesirables,
look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the Devil, and your Angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our nightsticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of GOD as we have been to guard the city of men.

Andrew you gave your life to make ours safer, for this I thank you. May you rest in peace, and may your family find comfort in knowing you will never be forgotten. May your brothers and sisters in Fort Myers find the strength to carry on, and try to fill your shoes.

My family and I are deeply saddened to hear news about Andy's unfortunate death. We knew him and his wife when he was a youth minister at out church in Rockport, MA. I remember the love and kindness he and his wife offered all of the children in our church, which included my son. He was a man of great faith, who is now with Jesus, the Lord and Saviour he served. Our prayers are with his wife and children, knowing that only He can bring peace to their souls at this time.
