"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Findley, we have the watch...

”I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!

Rich I had the Opportunity to work with You and Steve up in Beltsville and it was a Blast. I watched you grow from a snot nosed rookie to a seasoned Veteran. You made me laugh alot with some of your comments like.. "What do you mean we can't do that??" I had the honor of escorting you from the Emergency Room to Baltimore and its something I'll never forget. These next few days are going to be tough but I know you're in heaven looking down wondering why we're making all this fuss over you. Rest in Peace My Brother and Thanks for the Memories... Your smile will be missed more than you know... God Bless You and Your Family... Tell Steve we miss him too... Richie

Rich, I am deeply saddened to hear of this senseless tragedy. I know that your service will never be forgotten and may you rest in peace with our other brothers and sisters in blue who gave the ultimate sacrifice . It was a great pleasure to have served with you on the same squad at DisVI where I got to know you and enjoyed the late night ping pong games at the firehouse. My family and I will pray that God looks over your family and protects them the way that you always did. God's speed.

* GOD’S LENT CHILD*

“ I’ll lend you for a little while, a child of mine,
“ God said, “For you to love, the while he lives,
and mourn for when he ‘s dead”. It may be six
or seven years or forty- two or three; But will you, till
I call him back, take care of him for me ?

He’ll bring his charm to gladden you and
(should his stay be brief) you'll have his
lovely memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay, since all from
Earth must return. But there are
lessons taught below I want this child to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in my search
for teachers so true, and from the things that
crowd life's lane, I have chosen you.

Now, will you give him all your Love ?
Nor think the labor vain ? Nor hate me when I come
to take, this lent child back again ?

I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord,
THY WILL BE DONE”.
For all the joys thy child will bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.

We will shelter him with tenderness, we'll love
him while we may and for the happiness
we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should thy angels call for him much sooner than
we've planned, we'll brave the bitter grief
that comes and try to understand.

I recall sitting with him and his wife at the table upstairs at the fire house. And they were such a great couple with two little girls i told them that I want my marriage to be just like theirs. They were the best of friends. Kelly know that he will always be by our side and watching over u and your girls. Rich will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched and he touched so many.

Hi, Mr. Rich! (pretend I'm waving like silly from across the street) Your friendly smile, goofyness, and compassion will be sorely missed. Your children will be reminded of the great man you are, not only by me and Joe, but by my children who also love you dearly. With all sincerity, "Mrs. Kristie."
