As a former Cass County Deputy Sheriff from 1987-1999 I would like to extend my heart felt condolences to the family of Trooper Scott Burns. I have known Scott for almost 20 years, and knew him to be a very kind and respected member of Linden and the Cass County community. The loss of a fellow officer is never easy, and foremost never forgotten. On behalf of Scott's fellow brothers in "Blue" from California, I say a prayer for him and his family in this time of grief. To the wife and daughter of Trooper Burns,
I just heard of your tragedy this evening while watching the news. I immediately came to the ODMP website to see the details of what happened. I could not believe what I saw. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that you and your entire family will be in my prayers. I just did a memorial for my father who has been gone for 25 years and in that memorial I said that my greatest joy was knowing that he is up above watching over his grandchildren as their guardian angel. You and you baby girl now have your own special guardian angel watching over you from Heaven. God Bless and comfort you and your family.

Well, I just heard that the suspect in your death took his life as officers were closing in.....I'm glad because now I know another officer won't be injured or killed by this animal. Trooper Burns you joined one of the finest departments in the country, and I know you were trained by the best, but we all know how dangerous this job is.....you did your best, and we salute you!
