Reflections for Police Officer William Eric Freeman

Eric you will be sorely missed. You always had a smile on your face at all the ball games and always helped when any of the boys needed you too. The world will not be the same without you. I know you are watching over all of us.

Eric was a great guy. The thing that stands out the most to me was how much he loved his wife and family. He never told me this, but he did not have to, actions truly do speak louder than words. I was only a friend, but Eric had a way of making you feel special, and once you had met him, you were no longer friends, but family. To his family, there are no words that I can say to help you heal, but time can make things better. Take the time you need to feel better

To the family of officer Freeman; I am so sorry about the death of your husband and father. He was a wonderful person. I often came into huntsville and when I would happen to run into him, he always had a smile on his face and he talked about his childern and his wife. I don't understand why God would take him, I guess he needed another angel in heaven. But just think, when he make it to heaven someday, He will be at the gates waiting for you and your children and the nice think, we will all be with our loved ones forever. God bless you and the childern. And that God gives you comfort in your time of your sorrow. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

MY JOB
When squad called my unit, I would respond.
Whether it was a stabbing, a shooting, or another dead john.
10-4 I would say, I'am enroute.
Not knowing the situation or what the call was about.
It was my duty to serve and protect.
A mentor, a counselor, all I asked for was some respect.
At times I was nervous, even a bit scared.
My adrenaline was pumping when our sirens blared.
So many killings to them its a game.
Kids caught in the middle,a bullet knows no name.
So young so innocent they had so much left to do.
So forgive me if I cry, because I'am human too.
Never once did I take something that was not mine, not a ten, twenty or even a dime.
I always tried to show some respect and kindness, because I was proud to be one of huntsville's finest.
Never did I think when I got this call, that it would be my last job,my last 5 paul.
When the shots rang out, I didnt feel the round, until I heard my partner say "officer down."
Now as I lay here trying to be strong, how could things have gone so wrong.
Not knowing that tommorrow was never on its way.
The lord had something else in mind for me that fateful day.
This can't be happening I'm to young too die, to my family and friends, I don't want to say goodbye.
You did'nt have to shoot, my life you did'nt have to rob.
BECAUSE I WAS JUST DOING MY JOB...

I WILL MISS YOU, YOU DID SO MUCH FOR ME AND OUR COMMUNITY,YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS SMILING AND ENJOYING YOUR JOB..YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS AND SO WILL YOU FAMILY..MAY YOU REST IN PEACE FOR YOUR WORK HERE IS DONE..

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called Sons of God." Matthew 5:9

I met Officer Freeman when I was still working with the City of Huntsville. I didn't know him all that well, but from what I hear he was a remarkable man that loved his his family, his job, and his Lord. It never failed that he always greeted you with a smile. As a family member of 2 HPD officers, I can not begin to imagine what the Freeman family is going through. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Freeman family as well as the brothers and sisters of HPD. May God keep you and comfort you during this time of grief.

Thank you Eric for your service and the Ultimate Sacrifice you made. Know that your family is being well taken care of. Continue to watch over those that still serve.

God Bless

We really don't realize all the people that are involved in helping to keep us safe everyday, not unitl something like this. It is devastating to know that the person resposible for this shooting could be so heartless and cruel. Find comforting in knowing, that your husband, and your father, gave his life freely, so that other people might live. Sounds a whole lot like that thing that Jesus did so unselfishly to save us. I want you to know that we appreciate your husband/father's legacy. May God hiumself, be with you in this time of need and grieving.
Sincerely, Madison/Huntsville Citizen

It's foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived

Rest in peace brother, you fought the good fight. We will carry on from here.

Freeman Family and Friends,
My heart grieves for your loss. I can't begin to image the pain you are feeling at this time in your lives. I do know that God's word promises that He will be your strength in times of weakness. I always read and meditate Psalms 91, and I believe that as you and your family dwell in the "Secret Place" of God's word, His strength will be made perfect in your lives. Know that you are in my prayers and the prayers of so many others.

I was saddened deeply by the loss of officer Freeman when I got the news. I have spoken with several H.P.D. officers since that senseless night and they all spoke very highly of him. As I look at the patch that the Huntsville officers wear on their sleeves, Officer Freeman stood for everything on it. Knowledge, courage, integrity, and professionalism. Thank you for all of them. You served your community and the badge very well.

My heart is truly saddened at the loss of such a hero. It takes an amazing person to put their life on the line every day to keep us all safe. His life has ended too soon, and I know he will be sadly missed. Cling to the memories and allow them to bring you comfort.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

To the Freeman family and especially the children...I am a teacher and my heart goes out to all of you, but especially the children. Children...always remember that your father will now be your guardian angel in heaven to always be by your side and protect you. Help each other through this sad time and be kind and loving to your mother. She will need lots and hugs and kisses from you everyday. He may be gone, but he will always be in your heart. God Bless you all.
