Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer William Eric Freeman

I did not know you personally but I know you in my heart. Every time I hear your story I feel the tears in my eyes and a pain in my heart. I know you were loved and will be missed by everyone. You and your family will stay in my prayers.

Eric, I truly hope that you find peace side by side with Kelso in a better place than the one you left. I believe that both of you would tell every fellow Officer of HPD to "stay the course and don't ever give up the fight." It is such a shame that only at times like these that the public truly appreciates the job that each of us do every day. Every day we go to work we kiss our families good-bye and eagerly go out and protect those who can't protect themselves, never knowing if we will ever see the ones we love again. We do this willingly, knowing the risks and danger we put ourselves in on a daily basis. But each day as we walk out the door we rarely give thought to the prayers that our families say in hopes that each day we return home just as we left. I truly hope that the community that we so readily risk our lives for appreciate the sacrifice that you have made. My families prayers and thoughts go out to your family and loved ones left behind for truly they are the ones who pay the ultimate price. I am thankfull that I had the privilage to know and serve with you. I hope that while we mourn your passing we don't forget to celebrate your life and the difference that you have made in this world. I have no doubt that we will meet again, so until then I pray that you find peace.

My relationship with Eric and his family was only on the football field rooting for our son's. He was always there either in plain clothes or in uniform cheering for the Trojans. Your fellow brothers at the HPD have taken watch for you so rest in peace Eric. Our thoughts and prayers will be with your family.

To the family of Officer Freeman, my prayers and thoughts are with you all. I can't even imagine the pain that you are going through. God does not put more on us than we can bear so lean on Him now and always. This proves to us that not one day is promised and we should live like each day is our last. Please accept my condolences and I will keep you in my prayers.

Although I did not know Mr. Freeman I was very sadden by the news of his death. My heart breaks for the family that he leaves behind. I only hope that Christmas will not end up being a miserable holiday in the years to come for these children. I

"A Part of America Died"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.

The beat that he walked was a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.

Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
and a part of America died.

Rest In Peace Brother

God bless your family.

I am so sad, but so thankful for how Officer Freeman served our community. My heart goes out to the family he left behind who also gave us so much in supporting their Dad/Husband during his service. God loves you all and has already provided a way for your hearts to heal and for you to get through this. Know that we're praying for you. May God's love surround you today and forever.
