Brother, you will not be forgotten. Of all the LEO wakes I have attended there is always one thing in common. It is that these brave souls have been givers every moment of their life. It is a very special kind of person that puts on a badge or a uniform in the military. Some of us have given beyond life. Rest in peace brother.

To the family and friends of Officer Erfle, my heart grieves for your loss, but please rest assured that many of us truly appreciate what he did for us each and every day by putting his life at risk so ours could be safer. It is so unfair that he was taken away from you by such a senseless act. Please accept my sincere condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! God bless.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Erfle, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Nick, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Nick's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Nick's life was about so much more than the way he died. Nick will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Erfle, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

On Monday October 15th,2007 the Phoenix Police K-9 unit had a special presentation for your sons and their classmates. They honored you, but the day was about those two little boys. The air unit flew over several times, the dogs did a demonstration, the children got to pet them, the boys got a K9 patch, and it was an absolutely awesome and beautiful day for them in HONOR of YOU..OUR HERO..
Rest in Peace..

To the family and colleagues of Officer Erfle, my deepest condolences. This tragedy is indicative of the way that the most innocuous event can be the most dangerous - knowing that risk and doing your job in spite of it is what made you a hero. Rest in peace.

First and formost I would like to say how sorry I am to Nick Erfle family. I too am a mother of two and my husband is currently serving in the US Marines, but looking into a officer career once his contract is up. It shocks me reading these sensless acts commited by people who obviously do not value life.
May God stay with Nick's family and give them stregth during this painful, and shocking time of their lives.
Rest in Peace Nick Erfle...

My deepest sympathy on the loss of such a strong & honorable man. It must have been difficult for him & his family to battle his cancer...but then to end his life this way. It is such a shame. I pray that he is at peace & that his family finds some comfort in knowing what a good man he was & how much heloved them.

God's Peace to you

My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Erfle and his entire family, friends and fellow officers. It sickens me to see how a life can be wiped out by a sick individual with no remorse. It casts such a negative light on the other immigrants of this nation that appreciate and respect the law as all of us should.

Officer Erfle was a man of great courage. He did not flinch at the prospect of death, but dared to tear the mask from the Grim Reaper. Thus he was able to see its deeper nature as an Angel of Mercy.
He did not embrace that angel until the closing breath of his life's journey. But they had been close companions for quite some time. They laughed together, worked together, and gave thanks together.
Officer Erfle was a man of gratitude. That's not a small achievement in view of his adversities. During his final months on earth, he was especially grateful for the support provided by the Phoenix Police Department. He knew that, no matter what a situation calls for, nobody does it better than the P.P.D.
Officer Erfle was fully aware that extreme danger could be lurking in the midst of a relatively minor disturbance. Yet he did not shirk from doing what he saw was needed. On behalf of all those who value safety on the streets, he was willing to address that danger with the ultimate sacrifice.
The last time I heard him speak, he said,"Wish me happy landing."
Here's to you, Officer Erfle. We know you've landed on your feet somewhere in a timeless realm, and it's even better than you imagined. Your smile says it all.

Words cannot describe the feeling of sadness. As I stood in formation with all the Honor Guard Officers. I thought about how short life really is.I could not hold back the tears, even having 12 years on the Honor Guard, you would think I could hold it back, I couldn't. I saw your boys and it reminded me of my son and how precious life is. I wish to God that I could have been there to help you that day.I wish to God it all could have been avoided. It was an Honor for me to be in the presence of such a great Dept. The professionalism that I saw that day was beyond reproach. Very Sharp. God Bless you and your family.

To Nick's family and freinds, thankyou for your sacrifice and know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Nick now watches over you from a different place. Live full and happy lives, as you know he would want you to. It is quite obvious he surrounded himself with wonderful people who will always find inspiration from his memory. May all of you be proud that you walked with a hero. Be safe.
