With deepest sympathy at the loss of your officer. It is a sad day when we lose a brother or sister officer. We at my police department watched the entire event unfold on Fox News, and were saddended when officer Somohano passed on. Our hearts are with you and your department at this difficult time. Hopefully no one will forget his sacrifice. I will pray for his wife and two children. May they always know, after the pain fades away that their father and husband was a true hero.

Officer Somohano,

My heart dropped when I heard on the radio, "Officer down, Officer down." You made the ultimate sacrifice, for that your reward is a seat at the right hand of the all mighty and I know he is saying "Job Well Done". God Bless you and God bless your family. R.I.P

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Somohano as well as the brotherhood of the Miami-Dade Police Department. I just lost a friend that I went to high school with and a former co-worker (Corporal Arlie Jones) in the line of duty (Gunfire) on 09/08/2007 in Odessa, Texas. We were Police officers together for approx. 4 years and I know what it is like to lose a friend in the line of duty. There were 3 officers that was killed on this incident 09/08/2007(Domestic Violence). God Bless all of you that are still serving the public against the bad people. Watch your back against the crooks!! Rest in Peace Officer Jose Somohano!

As the father of a sworn officer I live in fear that someday my wife and I will get a call telling us that our son has been injured or killed. Few people in this country understand the lifestyle of police officers. They have little appreciation for the long hours and short pay you received. They can't begin to comprehend the Christmas's, Thanksgivings and family birthdays you missed to assure they were safe to celebrate their holidays. They think that the term "To protect and serve" are just words written on the side of a police car, they have no idea of the committment you, and thousands like you, give to protect and serve. I honor you sir. I pray that your journey has take you to a place where you can live in peace. Fallen, but not forgotten.

As tears may fall
Cry not in vain
For I shall be watching over you

I am the breeze that blows through your hair
I am the rain that falls lightly on your face
I am the sunshine that lights your day

Please don’t cry for me
I miss you just the same
I will not be far away

Stand strong my brothers and sisters
My family to you I give all my love
Fight the fight
Do your duty
As I sleep in my maker’s arms tonight.

My prayers are with the family and fellow officers of Jose Somohano. We are still grieving the loss of three of our officers in Odessa, TX. Even though we do not understand the senseless deaths of our fellow officers, we must trust in God and know that these fine men are all in the presence of God at this time.
