Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Christopher Reyka

Chris was a great person and I will miss him deeply. He was full of life on duty and off. We at Pompano lost a co-worker, a friend, and a mentor.

Sgt. Reyka,
I was in utter disbelief when I heard that another one of ours had been shot. Detective Maury Hernandez is fighting for his life right now. We can only pray that we are not going to be leaving Reflections on his page in the next week or so. I did not "know" you...but I knew you. In a few days I will hug your wife and your children and offer them my deepest sympathies. They are living my worst nightmare. Whatever they need...be it now or in the future...they will be taken care of. You were part of our family. You have been senselessly taken from us. I cry for you, I cry for your family, I cry for the grandchildren who will never meet their Grandpa...only hear stories about what a HERO he truly was...I cry for this community and what it has come too. Sgt. Reyka, I hope you did not suffer. You have surely served your time in hell on Earth working in Pompano Beach for nearly 20 years...rest now...take your place in Heaven. Godspeed.
