Well Dave- It happened- on Flag Day- the day the US Army was born June 14th- Brock was brought into our lives at 2:28pm. He weighed 9lbs 5oz and was 22" long. We are so excited to meet this little man. Mimi says he looks like you and has lots of dark hair. Dawn was an absolute trooper through it all- you must have been there by her side- I can only imagine the joy and sorrow that went through her during delivery. We are so blessed to have known you and even more blessed to have 2 wonderful nephews that will reflect the great man you are in our eyes. We miss you and think of you often. Happy Fathers Day!

My dearest bro,

It has been six long months since your last dive. There is not a day that goes by that you are not in my thoughts. I know that I have called upon you a lot in the recent months for guidance and strength in dealing with my life issues. I thank you for all the help you have provided me. Dawn, Jeromey and baby Brock are all doing fine. The promise we made to you when you left for Iraq that we would watch over your family until your return is now a promise forever. I love you and miss you and please continue to give me your strength.

P.S.

Sorry about the yellow go go car, and oh yes the jeep incident ---- maybe we will keep those topics for another day.

Love you forever

After hearing about Deputy Rancourt's passing last November, I ended up going to the funeral out of respect not only for him but in the memory of my father, who passed almost 9 years to the day of him. And now, as Police Week approaches, I just want to send out my condolences to the family and just say to them not to hesitate to seek out those in the law enforcement community for support as time goes on. This community is truly a "brotherhood."

Deputy Rancourt:

I was glad to learn today that you will be honored on May 13 th Washington at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial when your name will be dedicated on the Wall. Your dedication and valor will also be recognized on may 15th at the National Memorial Service in Washington and on May 17th at the Maine Memorial in Augusta- three honors for a wonderful husband, father and officer.

I know your family will be proud, even though National Police Week will be difficult for them and your fellow officers who will be in DC to honor you, I know you will be watching over them all.

If you have time, let Dawn know that Jermey , if he goes with her to Washington, will remember those events for the rest of his life, he is quite a young man and you can be very proud of him! I don not think he is going, but there is still time to have him there.

Take care - you will always be remembered.

HAPPY EASTER Dave. Dawn is doing great, I think she looks GREAT pregnant(I'm sure she would disagree). Her shower was a huge success, I don't think there is anything she will need for quite a while. Jeromey is simply the Best! You should be proud that he is your son, and if he paid attention to YOU the short time you were in his life, he is going to be a GREAT, Giving,Loving,Productive, member of society, someone else to add to the list of people I am blessed to know. Until we meet again Friend. :)

To the family of Deputy David Rancourt~
I have spent a lot of time looking over the pages of reflections about Deputy Rancourt. While I did not know Deputy Rancourt, it is apparent that he was an incredible Deputy and a remarkable human being. This year on May 10th, I will be riding in his honor for the Police Unity Tour; leaving Portsmouth, VA and traveling to the Memorial in Washington DC. I hope that you are able to attend the Memorial. If you are interested I would be honored if you would meet with me in DC, so that I could personally meet the incredible family that Deputy Rancourt had. If you read this please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Dave-

We had Dawn's babyshower this weekend and it was a great success. Jeromey opened the first gift...a t-shirt that said "I'm the little brother" and another "I'm the big brother". Everyone loved it.

Dawn did very well...only one or two tears, but I know she was thinking about you the entire time wishing you could see it all. The inviation list was 120+ long and the people who truly care about your family were there. You were in all of our thoughts during the wonderful event.

J-man and I went bowling later that night...we had a blast. He talked about you with some random guys we were next too in the bowling alley. He loves you lots...I know you already knew that, but I hope you're listening to him as he speaks of you so proudly.

We miss you lots.

To My Wonderful Aunt Lorette and Uncle Erlon: Parents of Deputy Sheriff David Rancourt. My heart goes out to you. To bury a son has to be the cruelest, hardest thing any parent ever has to do. You raised this wonderful person everyone is paying tribute to. Be proud and know that your pain and grief are shared by many. Thank you David for serving us and being a role model. You left the world a better place than you found it.

To my one true love, my best friend,

I still wait for your call, or the door to open. Jeromey turned 8 on Sunday and his birthday wish this year was to have you back. We talked and he knows that you aren't coming back and that you have an important job in heaven helping to keep the bad guys out. You raised a wonderful little man who is so very excited to meet his new baby brother and to tell him all about daddy. We chose the name Brock Jeromey for the baby - I hope you approve. I miss you so much, but am very greatful for our short time together we were a great team. We learned from each other, I learned patience (still working on that), unconditional love, faith and courage, just to name a few things. You wisely learned the words "yes dear". I miss you so very much buddy. Please watch over the boys and give me your continued strength.

We love you
Dawn and Jeromey (and baby Brock)

Dave and Family,
I will ride in your honor in the Police Unity Tour this year. My son James was a U.S. Army M.P. who was killed in Kosovo in 2001 and I ride in his honor each year. My husband and I moved to Maine in 2006 and I heard of your sacrifice. I hope your family can attend National Police Week in D.C. in May so I can meet you and give you the bracelet that I will wear in your honor and memory. God bless you all.

Dave,

Deerless Dave..The one who talked me into this profession. I could never thank you enough. You were a friend, an FTO a Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and First Seargent. We had some good times huh. One I will never forget... The day we was working Greene. The very first time behind the wheel of a Cruiser and I earn the nickname of Daisey..I always knew who was calling me because you always started out with DAISEY. I would have covered your back at the Nickolodeon you know! Rest in peace Dave.

The Fishing Derby wasn't the same this year without you Dave. Your ticket information was mailed to the house with Scotts and we just couldn't believe you weren't going to be here for it. Scott caught some white perch, but nothing that made the board. We were hoping you'd help him out, but your no cheater :-)

We think of you often Dave, sometimes when we're talking with Dawn about the baby and other times when we're driving alone in the car. We miss you a lot. Keagan mentions you often, especially when he wears his camouflage-snow pants and orange snow jacket. "Uncle Dave would think these are cool."

We look forward to meeting the new baby. We continue to keep him, Dawn and J-man in our thoughts and prayers as we do you. Until we meet again.

Happy Valentines Day Dave-Have you been busy playing "Cupid" today? If you have access to some inside info on where my true love is, I would appreciate it if you could tell them to hurray! :) You would be so proud of your "Little Man" he sent flowers to his Mom for Valentines, who wouldn't want him as a Valentine. Your love is doing good, she and baby doing great, Dawn said the baby is measuring 97th percent tile (sounds big to me but then again I have not had kids). We miss you and you are never far from our thoughts! Until we meet again Friend!

Love You & Miss You Always Uncle Dave.

"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Deputy Sheriff David Rancourt,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the "ODMP Light". That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute.

People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer.

Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP serves as a place where that continuum of "LIGHT" can be seen through and within, the heart and soul of each and every person who honors our fallen heroes with a relection and/or tribute.

As we say in Hawaii, we are `Ohana. We are family.
May God comfort the family and loved ones who have lost their beloved David. May God also comfort those who have lost a fellow officer and friend that can never be replaced in this lifetime.

I wish you peace and love beyond all understanding.
May you rest in peace Deputy Sheriff David Rancourt.
Me Ke Aloha Pumehana. Amen.

**I pray all find comfort in this Hawaiian prayer I leave you.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Merry Christmas Dave-We all do miss you,Dawn is doing ok, everyone is helping her in anyway they can. Jeromey is a trooper, quite the little hockey player you created, got his first goal shortly after your passing and boy was he proud of himself as he should be..however when I wanted him to tell me all about it he decided that his MOM could tell me because he had to go and practice his magic tricks, maybe we have another David Copperfield in the making. There was the first hockey fight too... but I'm
sure you know all this already-one of the benefits of being in Heaven...you know all before we do...hey-do you happen to know what the Powerball/Megabucks are going to be for Wednesdays drawing (ha ha ha) :) Take care and rest in peace.

A few days ago, I received this poem in the mail from a friend on the perfect day at a perfect time! It is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read. It was like Uncle Dave was hearing all of our conversations and decided it was time to get an outsider on a mission to let us know he is o.k. and will be because he is with God (Can you believe he is still working up there?!). I thought I would leave the poem here for family and friends to reflect upon during this holiday season. As a community of Uncle Dave's family and friends, it will be very hard to celebrate Christmas without a few tears, but I am also certain there will be much laughter through the tears because that is how he would want it to be!

My First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights like Heaven’s stars reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular; please wipe away that tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
For it’s beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain in your heart
But I am not so far away, we really aren’t apart.
So be happy for me, loved ones, you know I hold you dear.
Be glad I’m spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory of my undying love.
After all love is the gift more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love, and keep each other, as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessings or love he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear!
Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I love you Uncle David.
